Black cat mining facility easter egg change, where's the cat now? (Pleased Giraffe)

Hiya,

in the first mission; Erchius Mining Facility, where the black cats spawns. i did my usual thing for a new play through of starbound from scratch, so once i got my morph-ball and grappling hook i went to get me my kitty. I pulled both levers and rolled on into the area with the two glowing symbols, but when i went down the hatch to fetch my cat i found a empty room that was made out of the Ark Ruin's/Strange Gateway's blocks.... but no cat. the only noticeable thing in the room was this weird sign on the wall that looked like it should glow.

If anyone knows where the cat is or if it's been removed or even if there's now a third lever/step to getting the cat please do post below, it would be much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that cat was removed. I had one of those cats in my shiplocker as a left-over from the Upbeat Giraffe release, and releasing it from its not-a-pokeball resulted in no cat.

 

well that sucks. i wonder what that room if for then...

 

From what I've heard, the cat wasn't completely removed, but instead there's a chance of that cat spawning as a ship pet for humans as one of the possible colors. (I read that on the wiki at least, I never got that cat because I took a hiatus from Starbound around the time the Erchius Mining Facility was added but when I saw a cat on my human character's ship after coming back I looked up pets on the wiki and read something about that cat.)

So it wasn't completely removed, but only humans might be able to get it and only if it's the one that happens to spawn on the ship.

"Prior to update Spirited Giraffe, the black cat could be captured in the secret Erchius Facility room that now holds the Ancient Plaque. It is now available as a color variation of the human ship pet."

 

I was so sad about this change.. I captured 2 black kitties, crafted little homes for them, named them and everything and when I started playing sb again they were gone :c

 

I found hin in vocanic planet with so much luck (yes in 1.2)

 

The Black Cat can be found in Hylotl Villages but on the rooftops of the houses instead. The only color is black, and the cat can be hard to find. It's worth it because there is only one cat per Hylotl village.
