Check out this jungle planet in the Beta Sector. Directly to the right of the spawn point are two large earthen columns that grow straight up into the edge of the atmosphere. The planet is actually littered with these weird pillars. There are other strange and rare land formations too, though I haven't explored it fully. (Windows 8) Beta Mu-1 Sco Majoris IV e Jungle Threat level 2 x: 23105611 y:29349315 PILLAR PLANET!!! CYCLOPEAN TOWERS?! BIZARRE VISTAS... !$@*? There's actually a huuuuge chasm right here. I fell into earlier and got eaten. Who knows what other strange mysteries this BIZARRE WORLD might have lol.
Oh wow looks like all the land that was meant to be in that huge chasm decided to become those huge pillars.
Yea it's really weird. It's as though the terrain is so erratic that the earth has been displaced into the wrong areas.. I get the impression that whatever algorithms are used to generate the world got a little bugged out and created these pillars. The tops are completely flat and sit right at the edge of the lower atmosphere. At one point I was walking along the surface and found not just a pillar, but a wall of earth that was as tall as the pillars but 3-5 screens wide. On the other side is the immense chasm that goes way down into the deepest part of the planet.
What the fuck... this looks messed up... like tentacle planets background... Gotta check that out, thanks for sharing.
I've seen the pillars before in my very first universe on the second home planet in the alpha sector 2 patches ago (but they were few and far between). The chasms though, are the bottoms flat?
I actually had a similar experience with a planet. This planet, however, had a segment cut out straight across the entire loop. Here are a few screenshots I took and edited together. The white space to the left is because the last mountain was much larger/longer and I didn't get the full image. Like I said this line goes the entire length of the planet. It is at the same height and cuts through anything in its path. Flowers grow within it too and everything on top looks as though it is floating.
"This is my hole, it was made for me!" <disappears into endless tunnel> For those confused, worth reading
Ah ok, interesting. I kinda like the buggy worlds! I've seen some people asking for more 'alien' landscapes and they're here, just a little harder to find. Dude! AH! My mind! That was an awesome comic
I mined a tunnel up the eastern (left) side of this cliff. About 3/4 of the way up there are some medium sized caverns. There are two green tech chests sitting right next to each other.
Oh god this planet is so wrong If you go right like, 4 or 5 towers, you'll come across a free formed mountain the keeps going up forever WHY EDIT: I spoke too soon, it stops at space, thankfully wat There's also a floran town here, because why not
If it's a simple error, then how has it been replicated across a lot of PCs? If you type in the co-ordinates on Windows OS, then there it is. Obviously it's not really how worlds were intended to be generated, but it's more down to the results of proceedural generation and the hijinks that can cause than simply a loading problem.
For me the planet had a apex civilization and no de formed stuff. I don't know why it wasn't the same for me?
