Closed Bizarre system crash connected to Starbound.

So then, here is what happens.

When I launch steam and play Starbound everything is just fine.
I can play Starbound for hours on end and nothing in particular happens that would discourage me.
When I close Starbound.exe everything appears to have proceeded as intended.

Within the next ten minutes my PC will seize up forcing a manual reboot.
When I reboot, I get the warning that a system fan has failed.

This will not happen if I do not play Starbound or if I never close the executable when I do.
As far as I've experienced this is not happening because of other games including Dark Souls, Warframe, and Planetside 2.

I have to be up front that my PC has had numerous bouts of inexplicable crashing in the past but for the past two months and literally up until the launch of the Starbound beta I have experienced nothing of concern.
