So i decided that I hate myself, so much in fact that I'm going to build a biodome in starbound. after i built the glass dome i tried to drain the water out but it wasn't draining. I didn't fill in the background layer so im hoping thats why, but is it because you cant actually remove water in an ocean planet, I noticed that I couldn't place the water that I picked up either.

You'll have to try adding a background.

Let me know if that works, I'm very interested in making a base myself without having to dig into the planet proper.

Edit: The background didn't help, however filling out the area with blocks and then mining them back out did work, and if it filled back up with water you could manipulate that water.

Nice to know, I didn't even try that :p Guess I did an uneeded amount of terraforming >__<

Once you get sub-surface, the background isn't a problem. But in open ocean an exposed background will allow water to flood in. Nonetheless, having the MM collect water has made underwater bases so much more realistic and the underwater biome backdrop and environment is awesome

I didn't notice that, I covered the background on my dome before draining the water. Good to know, because when they release stable I'll built a huge Hylotl city down there.

I want a water drainage system, I don't want to have to manually empty my airlocks every time I go to my base :/

Check the other topic, in the screenshots section. I made an entrance without wires that doesn't require any draining. There is also a link there for a lava drainage system that would work with water too.
