Honestly does it matter? Asteroids ARE round....

It's for determining if it's a small asteroid or the fist of god meteor that exists to ruin your day. Yes they are round, but they have width as well. It's basically multiplying the radius times two.

Spent maybe a dozen hours on a hard/hardcore difficulty playthrough, make it to my first volcanic sort of planet, and within 30 seconds of reaching the surface, get hit by a meteorite during a meteor storm and die instantly. If I hadn't laughed so much, I would've wept angrily.

That's enough hard mode for me, forever.

Cleaning out a oil pool today . (Must make fire) Just finished killing mini Boss/Super mob so was ignoring everything. Drained down pool until I found second Super Mob one screen over from the first one.

I had lots of time to contemplate never letting my guard down as I waited for my tadpole to grow. Also need to remember that panicking and trying to matter manipulate said monstrosity does not help.

I just joined a server, beamed down to spawn, then suddendly, a guy ridding a giant nyancat with the nyancat music flew over me dropping meteors as it flew and killed me.

There are a lot of wtf moments for me as I hops from planet to planet. And here's one of them (not sure if you guys ever seen this monster before).

I was on a magma planet sailing around when I found a tiny island about seven blocks long and one block tall. I built a small house there and built a cool harbor. This took about an hour. Then came the meteors. I sailed to the mainland as fast as I could and tried to hide. When the meteor shower was over, I went back to the island to inspect the damage. It was awful. A horrible mess of wooden planks and metal beams everywhere. Most of the harbor sunk to the bottom, including the tiny rowboat. It was a true tragedy.

Yeah those meteors are horrible lol. One came down while I was opening a chest, then suddenly there's this huge ball of mass that's somewhere around as big a villager's house.

As for the most recent one, some swordfish aggro'd on me while I was inside one of my outposts (I guess the wall was thin enough for it to sense me). It tackled through the hatch (which has a proximity scanner) and went inside with a few fishes. The automatic airlock drainage made short work of them. There was also an apex guy walking around the bottom of the ocean with civilian clothing right after that. Probably one of the guys I spawned before fell off the island and attracted some aggro around.

My biggest wtf moment was when I saw the avian pirate ship. I was like, woah, you can buy guns?!?!

Had one last night, was wandering around a planet that had random meteors. Just finished looting a chest, jumped over a 5 wide hole in the ground. Meteor strikes the chest, just barely missing me. First one to land and leave anything this play through, too.

As I was approaching a glitch castle on a extreme planet, suddenly, meteors came done and took out the entire front part of the castle and parts of the library, all the peasants were running as I walked forward like a herald of death: which wasn't too far from what happened after.

Not too long ago, I encountered a naturally occurring pit-cave. Took a solid minute for me to hit the bottom of it.

Thing is, it wasn't on a Moon world, and gravity is a harsh mistress.

Being stupid enough to forget you have pulse jump, targetted blink, and a grappling hook doesn't help matters any. But in my defense, it was just so majestic a pit - it almost seemed a shame to break my fall and ruin the experience.

Reminded me a lot of this.

YOU CAN NOW FIND SEWER LORE, GUYS.

Unfortunately, this doesn't make sewers worth exploring unless you're a hardcore completionist. It only has a chance to appear inside this single trash bag in this particular room, which doesn't have a 100% chance to generate in a sewer, so you'd have to explore an insane amount of them to get all of it.

Found some of those early on, the sewer lore. For a while, I was storing stuff in the trash bag until i got some larger containers, lol.

This just reinforces my theory that every village and such is doing just fine on every planet no matter what until the player finally beams down, bringing meteors with them. There's no other way to explain just how a Glitch castle could remain standing on an extreme planet with meteor showers.

Yes nothing's loaded, but you'd think there might be plans for different varieties of such areas, like a devastated Glitch castle in ruins with no NPCs and just monsters on Extreme planets with meteor showers and meteor rocks littering the area. Like it's own specialized sub-biome based off of weather conditions, primary biome, and whether it's a village, castle, prison, etc.
