Biding our Time...

Running out of things to do while I wait for the next update, as I personally don't see much reason in playing Starbound until the update due to the impending wipe. So instead I've been biding my time browsing the forums, watching youtube and such. Anyone else having trouble finding justification to play Starbound when we know in a day or two we'll lose it all?

 

Well I can see that reason, though I have not been playing because for the past 2 weeks I felt crap. One of those weeks I was bedridden, now that I'm feeling better I still haven't played any games because I have been overly tired for no reason.

 

Same, iv been doing random things, i want to try to get my Bing Rewards account working, but it wont let me save my Address Settings...

If anyone has any info on how to fix this issue im having, it would be greatly appreciated!

Back on topit, Yes, iv been doing random things, mainly anything but playing starbound for the past few weeks due to all the wipes... i made a few mods, youtube, got a new Windows Phone (love it), may be building a new PC soon... lots of random other things lol...

But after that update... oh boy...

Now's a good time to play around with mods so you can see which one you wanna use when you play (assuming they get updated too)

I'm still playing it, just because it's fun. Everything I make in the game is eventually going to be gone anyway, either from the next world wipe, or from me getting bored and deleting the game, or from the eventual heat death of the universe, so I don't make anything with the intention of it lasting forever.

 

I'm playing around with creative mod .

 

Now's the best time to do things you don't want to do. Especially for bug testing if nothing else.

Have you tried cooking/smelting/fueling/scanning/etc all kinds of different objects to see if there are any surprises?

....wait. I think that came out wrong.

When I say "don't want to do" I'm not trying to say you should do boring stuff or whatnot - I'm just referring to things that you wouldn't want to experiment/gamble with on a "real" character.

 

Oh that actually reminds me, I've been meaning to take up modding, I started about a year ago, but got sidetracked. So from someone with very little coding knowledge, where do you suggest I learn?

 

Good Idea, I browsed through the mod section a few days ago, but was worried about messing up my save. Can't believe I didn't think of that. Thanks!

I played SB for about 2 hours today and here is my reason why.

I started a new character and did some tests to see how fast I could feasibly gather certain items (400 iron/copper/coal and 3 full stacks of wood) and to test out some new farming ideas I had along with a few other ideas I came up with for 'gaming the system'. Most ideas didn't work however I do have a thought for building something like a mob farm when in the core of a planet I really want to try out.

I may do that tonight actually.

 

I beat the game sdeveral times an d soon as i feelt a bit bored( whi ch hasnt happend often at all) I started playing with mods and making my own

 

Well I just tried to make a mob farm using the magma sea in a small world. Seems the lava level remains constant, even if you have a single block of magma blocked off, it acts as an infinite source until the lava reaches the top of the lava core.

In the new version I now have a pet project to play with

 

While I wait for the new patch, I am planning my new character. I haven't decided if I should go for Hylotl or Floran. I really love the feudal japan style of the Hylotl, but I like the cuteness of the Florans. (plus my playstyle is generally to kill everything, which fits well with the floran way of life) Anyway, I'm sure I'll make a decision when the patch is out. For now I'm going to explore the Stanley Parable. (it's slightly reduced in price on Steam atm)

The last part is a section about Modding Tutorials, its by Molly, a Dev, so all the links are legit, some might be outdated, or for another OS, but even then you can still learn from it. If you need any help, ask me in a PM.

 

I actually haven't touched Starbound in...maybe...a week? Week and a half? And yes, because of the coming wipe. Went back to some good ol' Terraria to pass time with. Almost made a rage face because I was trying to open a door and pressing E wasn't doing a damn thing.

 

maybe things will turn out better than expected and it'll be out friday

but that's unlikely so why am I even bringing it up
