Beta swag/does the floran remind anyone else of sylvari?

So I know chucklefish is aiming for starbound to be released late this year, but what about the beta ? I can't wait to take my first bite into this game, and I was wondering if you have a general release date for the beta? Also, just wanted to say that the florans remind me of the sylvari, which were my favorite race in gw2. I like it.

Sorry, a release date for beta is also unknown. Everything is estimated to be released in 2013 right now.
And also, I never played GW2, but I can see the resemblance.

Anyhow, they do remind me of the Sylvari because they are also plant people... but they really couldn't be any more different.

 

2013 is all we'll get... Until we get the actual game, of course.

sylvari? er, i feel like they are more "in-tune" with peace and trying to basically do their thing while the florans are more "Feed" and adapt; more tribal and such.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if they knew when the game was going to be released, but decided to keep it to themselves to piss people off.

Haha, florans totally remind me of Sylvari and that's the main reason why I probably won't be playing one. My GW2 main is Sylvari and I want to play something different in Starbound. Lore wise they couldn't be further apart which is nice. Sylvari NPC's are among the most annoying I've ever encountered.

 

To build up as much hype as possible for the game.

Perhaps they have a date in mind, kept to themselves, however don't want to release the date because it could cause them stress and annoy the community if they fail to meet it?
