They'll probably pull a Valve and release it at the very last moment possible in 2013.

No I think whats going to happen is that they'll wait until the very last minute and then occasionally mention on IRC or in passing that Beta is coming in 2014.

So true. And i am sure it would be a shocking fact for the devolopers/chucklefish if they would realise at the end of the year that they cannot launch the beta in 2013! Oh my... who could have predicted that? *wink,wink* But honestly at the moment i do not belive at a beta in 2013. Got only their word for it, like for the release in 2013 or the beta in 2012 or... well as long as they don´t announce a date at this state, they wanna keep a escaperoute open for a 2014 beta. A date would fix so many issues about the flaming community and the credibility of chucklefish. But hey, before somebody say let them just devolope a biiiiiiiiiiit longer for a better game... a long devolopment time did even made Duke Nukem Forever a game of the century. Or... not?

No no no.. that wouldn't be much surprise.

What they would have to do is release it on a holiday: Something to be thankful for, or as a Christmas gift to us.
You know.. despite paying for it. That would be the ultimate bonuspoints to them, and flush their reputation down the drain.

Simply putting it off till the last minuet or next year? Most people seem to expect it at this point.

I think chucklefish should get a price for everything you can make wrong in handling the beta affair. And it´s even sad that Kickstarter reputation was damaged, thanks to chucklefish, because there are still people who think it was a Kickstarter Campaign instead of Pre-Order. And Kickstarter is blamed for... thanks alot.

 

How exactly does it damage Kickstarter's reputation?

 

I think the main issue is, people believe in rumors or interpret inaccurately the information that is on the internet.
