Will there be any vanity items exclusive to those who played when the game was in beta, and will progression and characters carry over to release?

 

Boy, that'll sure cause some commotions. But there will be people whose name will appear on the "beta testers" list on the credits.

 

Tiy has stated that anything that is in the game will be obtainable by everyone. No exclusivity. Thumbs up Tiy.

 

Yep, and everyone who plays beta but didn't pay for a a credited tier just gets to have played the game first and for less cash (Pretty much how MC worked).

Never did like exclusivity. Despite it being pure vanity I hated that I couldn't mess around in Terraria with the pet bunny as that was exclusive to people who bought the hard copy. Kind of sucks when you can get something based on when you found out about the game or how you got ahold of it.

I'd hope the "youtubers" who get the game early at least had to pay for it.

It kind of irks me that I pay twice for the game and some guy gets it earlier than me and didn't even pay for it just because youtube brings in the money. Sure it's a smart business move, but still seems pretty dickish to me. Nothing I can do about it, though. Oh well.

 

But what is so wrong with a small vanity exclusive that does not give a pvp advantage.

 

Because while good for the people who have them, it sucks for the people who don't. If you want your character to look a certain way and never can because that one item is something only people who happened to have heard about the game before you can have then it sucks. All because you didn't hear about the game yet. And on the flip side, more often than not people use exclusives to just lord it over people in some form of "i'm better than you because" way. The game will be better for not having them.

 

It can be traded but still rare, also lording over people some vanity item is dumb.

 

Statement: meatbags do dumb things.

Conjecture: Some have the urge to feel superior, and will use every little advantage that they can get. This includes but is not limited to: "vanity items." Removing said "vanity items" eliminates one more thing fleshlings can use to obtain a feeling of superiority, which contributes to overall enjoyment of the game for all parties involved.

Well I am sure HK-47 will not be pleased and destroy the obsolete model. Thanks for your opinion I still think a vanity item would be nice more cool in my opinion then a forum badge. It could just be a decorative item the has a description regarding being part of beta.

 

I don't think you are getting the point. Vanity EXCLUSIVE items will not be included. The reasoning for this is literally what M-bot just said. (BTW, M-Bot, you made me laugh pretty hard, then cry because its true.)

 

Yeah, sadly most people don't treat exclusives as a show of believing in a game in some form (beta testing, buying a special copy, paying more than the market value) and more "Hey look why I have cause I'm better than you". Kinda hard to make an exclusive without making it something other people might want but can never have or something to hold over others as proof of your "superiority" over them.

 

People will always find a way to be jerks and life is not far, I see no harm in a exclusive vanity item you guys are treating it like it infringes on human rights.

 

THat's the thing. You see no problem. Tiy does see a problem, so therefore no exclusive vanity items.

 

It's up to tiy if there is one great if there isn't oh well.

 

That is a little extreme, I am just saying I can definitely see the disadvantages. Personally I would like a little something to show I was in the beta.

 

Yeah I am not really asking for some item that gives us an advantage maybe a plaque you can put in your base or something. Yeah the internet effects me sometimes with the internet hyperbole lol.
