Just a minor feedback about moving the F1-key function that hides the GUI to another key, I think some people will use the 1-key alot for important items and may press F1 accidentally (I did that with my thick fingers :)) didnt know what happened (thought it was a bug before I tested abit more)

I've thoroughly enjoyed the beta thus far, considering I haven't made all that much progress I expect my positive opinion of it will grow quite soon.
That being said, there are some things which I think might be welcome additions, and while unfortunately only one springs to mind at present, I feel it is something that should not be missed: Scalable UI/HUD.

I have my monitor mounted a couple feet away and things like crafting menus, inventories, and the item bar are hard to make out sometimes, which makes fiddling with items a bit of a chore.

I say Scalable, but even just an incremental system like the current zoom option would be just as appreciated.

    Regards
    Lord Huffduffington the Great.

P.S. The sax is the best thing ever in anything.

Oh also something I just noticed it doesn't matter how much you sleep time doesn't pass by faster :(

    - Beds Maybe you should make it so that in single player if you sleep time progresses faster till daytime while in multiplayer everyone has to be sleeping to make this happen

I think it's intentional, to encourage players venturing out at night. Maybe a higher-end item like a stasis pod could advance time, just as an example.

EDIT: Okay so what I found out was that if you are using a furnace or something along those line and use Shift+Left click but there are already items in the furnace, then those items that you shift-clicked will disappear. Please fix this!

Based on a little experience and some extremely limited testing, I think shift left click just moves items either to your item bar or to another tab in your inventory, or a backpack, providing there's an empty slot somewhere.

Ah, I remembered a couple of other changes that might be good:
    • Torches/lights in general should be dismantled more or less instantly; it would make redecorating a lot faster, and it's not like the current time it takes provides any extra challenge, since (I think) none of them actually have collision and thus can affect the world significantly.
    • Hammers having a visible wind-up rather than there just being a delay. I play with on a server with a bit of lag, and it makes fighting a bit awkward. Lag does in general, but you know. If a wind-up is implemented then I think the hammer should just be raised above the head a little, and swung at the same speed as it is now; I don't think the hammer starting at a larger angle and then smoothly gliding towards a hit would be very attractive compared to the nice feel hammers have at the moment.

Slower crafting... yeah, I could get into that. Ten seconds is a bit high though, around five seconds is pretty good. At the moment I think it takes two seconds to craft an ingot, so maybe doubling that would be okay.

As for realism with bows, think of it just as using the metals to strengthen the bow, since you use the the wooden (or previous) bow in constructing the next tier. Realism would only really dictate an ungodly weight after a point, but other than that I think it works.
Still, better types of wood might be cool. Makes me think of Ironwood or whatever it was called in Dragon Age.

This could be a pretty cool system.
They could take the Distress Beacon thing as a base, make it a bunch more expensive, and give it a slight reskin, and then it would be all set. Of course the tricky bit comes from implementing it in the ship UI.

After playing around with the shift-click I found out that as well, but what I also found was that if you are using a furnace while shift clicking, the items will disappear if the furnace is full. at least that is my only explanation for my ores disappearing.

Well damn, that's certainly a bug worth reporting.

Some more feedback, I would like to be able to for instance search for "pickaxe" in the crafting interface and then be able to get results in the form of "iron pickaxe" instead of having to search for iron pickaxe (if that makes sense)

  15. Neleos

    Neleos Title Not Found

Actualy, to be honest, It's allready the best game of this year for me. Good Job!

  16. Gotcha!

    Gotcha! Pangalactic Porcupine

Looking good so far, but I have to give some feedback.

    Crafting with credits:
    - I really dislike pixels being used for crafting. Currency should not be used like that. It's like paying an imaginary craftsman for his work.
Crafting is complex and slow enough already if pixels wouldn't be used up.
I'm sure merchant npc's would love to take your pixels instead, as well as that 3d printer thingy. Please don't have us waste it on crafting.

    Block crafting blockage:
    - Crafting hundreds of blocks or certain items is currently a nuisance. Terraria had the right idea. If you would give the ability to increase/decrease quantity by holding down those two arrows, instead of single clicking constantly, then that'd be great. :)

To bow or not to bow, that's the million pixel question:
    - Hunting with a bow gives meat and chopping with a sword gives pixels. Why can't we have both? Pixels are hard enough to get, due to losing so much when dying. And why would a creature not give meat when chopped with a sword? Shooting a creature with depleted uranium slugs would surely make the meat unfit to eat, but a sword would definitely be safe.
Please give people free choice of what weapon they want to use. Remove those silly 'creature killed by this weapon drops that" stuff.

Now where did I leave my keys?:
    - Stuff picked up should not automatically go into the action bar, in my opinion. Especially since the action bar is in an entirely different place than the inventory.

This used to be a forest planet:
    - There is no way to replant trees, at least, not to my knowledge. So people will run out of wood eventually.

Hmm, didn't I see you around before?:
    - Right now the difference in monsters per planet is minimal. Around 3 types on the surface and 3 types below the surface. (As far as I've seen.) Also, I am seeing monsters with the same body parts and they usually have a body slam attack or another attack that seems to appear a lot.
I don't get the feeling the monsters are unique. I'd rather see non-random monsters that are well thought/planned out, like in Terraria. Also, graphically they're kind of bland.

*dies* Oops. Apparently I was hungry.
    - Please show the hunger bar at all times or at least make a toggle for it. When mining around the clock it's easy to miss the pop-up.
    - Oh, and mining itself could perhaps use a little speed boost. It's really slow, even with a silver pickaxe.

    (Possible) Bugs:
    - A large chest has the same inventory space as a small chest.
    - You can hit enemies through walls and doors.
    - I created Hatchling armour, 3 pieces, all have 5 armour, but wearing them all still gives 5 armour, not 15.

    Probably more soon.
Thank you, you're doing a nice job so far. I have faith 1.0 will rock our world. :)

guys we must not forget that the devs are working pretty hard and that if they need to postpone it again then we should just relax and play the beta and send any problems so that they can make the near perfect game they do have a lot of things to add ;)

  18. Sophiera

The ability to replant trees should be top priority (below critical bugs) Torches are too important to be limited. An ability to make charcoal will make life a ton easier for travel+exploring. I consider both of these to be top priority.

I don't agree that bows are the only way to get meat. I can live with "higher chance of getting meat" as opposed to "Only way of getting meat." We all love a good mincemeat, no? :p
Non-hunting weapons should be able to give some kind of meat, even if it's less. Maybe have the hunting bow give meat 70% of the time, while everything else 30%.

Hunger meter be able to toggle please, or maybe a red bar on the right side of the screen?
I also notice that the hunger bar only fills up ONE TIME even if I scarf down 5 slices of meat.

Crafting... I'm not sure about the whole pixel stuff. I understand the need for a pixel-sink, but in early game it ramps up the difficulty too high. Lack of a bank + Slow startup = Not fun.

I'd suggest to shift the pixel sink to the 3D printer. Allow printing ores and stuff, but charge a price on it. That way people can have the option to either fill in the missing ingredients with ores, or go and mine for more.

Very good job on the block mechanics though. Finally I'm not mining 1 block at a time lol

That is very true but with what they did I don't think it would be greatly difficult. Basically have all the pieces just needs another purpose :)

Speaking relative to what they're capable of, then yes, it's totally within their capabilities, far within. I was thinking more about the limited manpower which they have at this stage, which would make the implementation of a beacon system a lot more arduous.

Of course, I don't think you wanted it developed now, it was just another suggestion.

Speaking of which, I wonder if there's an e-bin with all the suggestions in, and each member of the team gets a random draw to consider, and keeps going until they find one they like.
    That'd be humorous.
