    Ive tried to load the game and nothing happens at all for about 2-3 mins, then loads Chucklefish logo which moves and makes sounds, until it moves back and becomes small, then freezes and I have to alt-ctrl-del, any workaround for this?

    Im assuming since games like Terraria and even Diablo3 run fine, my cpu is ok to run this game?

    There is s special thread in the supporm forum to report these kinds of problem. Put a reply in there and include the log file in the report. The first message in that thread will probably explain where you can find the log file.

    Ive now gotten the game to work, just had to wait abit past the logo freeze.

    Now the game has really bad fps, anyway to improve by changing settings somehow? tried resolution but only helps a small amount

    I have a few things to feedback after playing 4 hours in Beta:

    • sometimes cobblestone in some places underground takes a color N. Now, that color N is almost identical to iron in the game, so when iron appears on such cobblestone, it's very hard to see iron. It's a minor problem, but I feel like it should be fixed;
    • tools have a durability. You use a tool and durability decreases. Why have a durability system, if it decreases slowly enough to not care, and ores are easy to find to fix a tool? I may be wrong on this one, if more advanced tools need better maintenance later in the game;
    • nobody understands what warmth meter is and how it works, at first;
    • it's unclear what a second inventory tab does, at first;
    • it's unclear what pixels are and what they do, at first;
    • you can't pause the game.

    Needs some kind of quick switch between abilitys, or a controls menu so you can see the available options.

    The launcher is too big for lower resolutions. The launch buttons are too far down so they aren't visible. Either make the launcher smaller or have it resizable maybe? Also, I'm jumping on the loading-the-game-takes-a-very-long-time bandwagon.

    it needs key binding so that we can change the buttons . for example with me i want W key to be jump not space bar

    Something else that would be of use to the game

    Easier Ways of Traversing So say you just traveled a nice 10min in one direction and you found something awesome but you died, guess what do it again..... There needs to be a way to use your transporter to get to positions cuz after spending this time traveling and just dieing because there seems to be no way to heal yourself other than bandages. I.E. StarTrek you the beam you down you can literally go anywhere on the planet as long as you have the coordinates. It would make exploring more fun because now you can explore save coordinates and then get back there quicker. Ofc you might need an item to do this.

    totaly agree like when you set location in games when you sleep in a bed like terraria and minecraft or just ability to set the location

    I think most of the problems I have with the game right now can be attributed to content being cut for the initial beta. So I'll move onto my main grievance: The planets. Different planets is what sets Starbound apart, and it should be where the game shines. But it doesn't. Planets feel like little more than simple reskins. Each type of planet has only a tiny number of things unique to it, and half of those are just the graphics of the trees and background and the palette swapped surface tiles. I want different planets to actually feel different; with different surfaces with different effects (you don't even slip on ice, for god's sake), different unique monster types that act differently (not just every planet having ground monsters and birds), different day/night cycles with actually visible suns (hell, have planets that are only ever one of them), different flora and flora that actually does something (instead of reskinned trees and small plants that can't be harvested or otherwise interacted with), and most importantly, different gravity. Gravity was one of the most basic expectations I had, and it's not there. Seriously, what gives?

    It would be much more enjoyable :) Thing with Terraria was late game it was very very easy to travel some wings ect half across the map in 2min and minecraft is a little different on the sense as where you sleep that's where you respawn so you can lose old locations.

    But I agree with ya on the set location thing or something :)

    Im right handed and not keen on them either, I think enough has been said and CF will have key mappings in soon. The game wouldn't be so difficult if I could change the controls...LOL. WASD just doesn't work for me in 2d games.

    Overall, the game is what I expected...a few things I think that need tweaked:

    1. The matter manipulator just takes tooooooo long....
    2. The bow and arrow mechanic for food....why cant a sword produce meat? Doesn't make a lot of sense as the bow is so under powered and difficult to use (Maybe if I could remap the controls it would be easier)

    Other than that, so far so good..well, I got one heck of a starter planet....all kinds of poisonous pools, no water and apparently no iron ore. Since I have the basics down I think I will re-roll and try to get a better starter planet. I know, kind of a wuss...but the controls...THE CONTROLS!!!!

    I get the errors on close as well..looks memory related (Access violations). I thought I would have to start over every game but it actually still saves my progress..so not a killer. I did have a bizarre glitch when I started the game for the first time.....it was zoomed in so far (like 7000%) and all I could see was my feet. I restarted and all was good.

    Just finished my first playthrough and had fun all things considered. Some thoughts:

    Randomness is great, but can really gum up the works when a play has very few options like at the start of the game. Perhaps blacklisting certain planet types like hostile environments and those unlikely to have trees so that a new player is not dead on arrival.

    While I understand the idea of using pixels in crafting, as many others have said I believe that their use in the early tiers is a bit extreme. It costs 400 pixels to get a basic set of copper armor(1600 for iron). This does not seem like much, but there are critters on some of these planets that can take over 50% of an unarmored player's heath in one hit making gathering pixels...difficult especially with the death penalty as it stands. I think that cutting the pixel requirements in half would be a good start. The recipes are already resource intensive (134 copper ore for the full set) and I think this would be a good way to compensate for the randomness of the initial planet.

    As for the first boss. I understand that it is something of a a placeholder/WIP. My main problem is that it appears to have the same despawn rule as most other enemies. I tried playing space invaders with it and the darned thing vanished at which point I embarked on my first Starbound modding attempt and removed everything but wood from the crafting recipe. Thumbs up on modability by the way.

    All in all, like I said I had fun and didn't run into any serious bugs or unplayability issues although I have yet to beat up Einstein and explore the galaxy.

    Keep up the good work.

    I actually have no complaints, most stuff that's difficult to handle or missing, seems like normal issues for the first few hours of a beta game being released.
    And since there is such a struggle to get your stuff together at the beginning, which needs a lot of exploring, the small progress you make feels pretty rewarding.

    At least in my opinion, the game was worth every cent.
