I Hope that the art style isn't final. I thought it would look better in motion, but the monsters really seem out of place with their simply randomly generated colors. The sword animation is very low on frames as well. I know the art and animation aren't necessarily final, but I have a sickening feeling that these monsters will remain in game.

 

So did the release date actually mean today? or was today just to showcase how the game wont start?

 

I have two issues that have been really prominent. the first being the controls. Whilst the controls may be easy for some, as a left handed person jumping is near impossible in this game. the secone problem is the severe lag i am getting. there are no options to change this, and i understand that this is really early days from release. but it is hard to give a good review to a game i cant play. other than that, thanks for keeping us all updated and im sure the game will work better in the future

 

I'm in game, loving it a whole bunch so far. I would enjoy very much if a crouch-walk was added.

 

Same here. I have no idea what to do. Maybe you have launch the server first?

 

ım playing eve and starbound on steam,now here's my problem,when ı switch to eve ıt gives an error and closes my game,here's the error

When starting up for the first time some players may not notice the journal, that contains the controls and other info useful for beginners. Maybe a quest in the beginning or a tip pointing players towards their journal would help those who don't look around their HUD?

 

The game started for me, but the missing Option to rebind the keys hinders me greatly. On closing the Game, i got flooded with errormessages.

 

The game crashes very frequently for me, usually during the respawning screen that happens when you die. It throws up a bunch of errors similar to the one in umut121's post as it crashes. I have to kill the process in the task manager to get them to go away.

And while I hate to sound selfish I gotta say, if you are dealing with issues, deal with the bigger ones first... Like fix the problems that prevent people from even starting the game before dealing with the people who have it working fine but can't rebind their keys.

 

The hotbar is very confusing.
Also I'm saddened that the glitch head (57) I had planned on using since the very beginning is not in the game.
I have crashed the game once or twice, and submitted a report for it..

But the hotbar. That part is almost incomprehensible. I have no idea what will be selected when I scroll the mouse wheel, as it doesn't seem to select things in order.

Also my weapon keeps auto-selecting for unknown reasons.

Hey all, is the game up on steam as an early access buy? Or do I have to preorder it through Chuckefish to get a key?

 

Me and a friend get severe lag to the point it cripples game play. While my other friend who has the same spec laptop as me plays it fine without lag. You should have a option to turn the weather off since that's the only difference i'm seeing currently.

Takes around 2 minutes for the program for the program to actually launch once you press "launch starbound" it will then freeze for a bit on the chucklefish logo. If you push the launcher button more then once you can have multiple programs appearing at once which freaks the computer out.

Once you create a character file and click on it to play it also freezes for a little bit.

Also freezes when you try and warp to the planets surface.

I didn't even notice the equipment box right away either i had to ask a friend where to get the stuff and he told me i needed to die to warp back to the ship, but i figured by pushing the warp symbol i could make it back.

Crashes numerous times for no apparent reason.

It's currently up you can buy it.

 

I wonder why the game works for some but not others. Maybe you need to reinstall it? I tried to start a server too and nothing happened...
EDIT: My game started. It just took a while before the game booted up. So I guess the freezing on the Chucklefish screen is normal?

 

It worked for me, I even livestreamed it [had a little trouble at first]. Had great fun, but can I only place 1 block at a time, instead of the bundle of 4? Oh and enemy hitboxes are pretty strange.

I have the exact same problem! The music also seems to freeze and constantly replay a tenth second section. I hope it gets fixed, but atleast i try very hard not to die!
