Regarding the Free -to-Play model, my favorite example is Star Trek Online.

It's a game that GIVES you so much, you actually WANT to spend money on it. After 50ish hours without spending a dime, enjoying exciting gameplay and fun Trek stories (and INSANELY AMAZING customization), I finally bought some of the paid currency even though there was no gameplay benefit. The auction house economy means that ANYTHING you really want in the game can be bought with the basic, freely-acquired in-game currency. I bought a cosmetically different ship and some of the classic Wrath of Khan uniforms, but I mostly was just making a donation to support the incredible love and enthusiasm that the developers show that game and its community.

I enjoyed it so much, I even went back to SWTOR, filled with enthusiasm for F2P...

And there, I got to see the exact OPPOSITE application, a game that's completely crippled at every turn unless you subscribe.

 

Beta "AROUND" Dec 4th. Why is everyone leaving that very key word out when they talk about that tweet?

 

Even if it doesn't come out on Dec 4th it'll very likely come out soon after, so not much of a difference.

 

Today I learned, but I'm blaming it on the vodka.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, but it has never been my intention to provoke you or anyone else. I apologize if at any point in the past you've felt otherwise.

That said, I'm done accommodating you, or your tendency to attack people instead of arguments. If you have a problem with something I say, then reply to it, don't wait three posts down the line and start attacking my nondescript "post history". Your reasoning is not as obvious to anyone else, me included, as you think it is and it makes it very difficult to believe that you're arguing in good faith. I know what I've said and how it reflects on me, so I won't even bother responding directly to those kinds of accusatory tactics in the future, I'll simply point it out for what it is and move on.

 

does anybody knows if the beta will also be availble for mac?

I'm really hoping for a surprise early release. I'm amazingly happy that the beta is so close now, but with the biggest holiday next to christmas coming up tomorrow it would be awesome if the release was tonight. That would give most fans who work and go to school full time a chance to really jump into the beta and finally get a long awaited chance to really enjoy the experience.

I'm gonna need at least a good 15-20 hours in the first couple of days on the beta when it's released and I'd love to get it in while I'm off work for the holiday. Otherwise next week might mean all non-essentials things might be overlooked, liked eating, sleeping and bathing.

Hey don't judge, everybody has to set some priorities.

 

"Your tendency to attack people". I have been respecting opinions and views since the beginning you on the other hand..... Creating conflicts placing blame and many more. Worst of all is that you do not respect opinions. And don't kid yourself because we all know this is true. You can try placing the blame on me pointing fingers and saying "Oh look at your tactics" but the community knows better and when I call you on it you get defensive and decide to fabricate statements to protect your ego.

I wont bother replying to you if you keep doing this. So attack me again. You wont get your desired responses out of me.

Also I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing the beta till the 4th because of the Steam sale running up to the third.
