At least they gave us a release date out. But I'm 70% sure that most likely Steam will become mentally unstable and force Starbound's beta release date on the 7th of December or somewhere near those lines.

I suggest you dislodge whatever foreign objects you have stuck up you rectum, get off your high horse, put down your lance, take off your shining suit of armor, and go on a vacation to an exotic location and wind down before you have an aneurism from being so serious about every single post that isn't licking chucklefishes boot.

He doesn't have to stay here, nor do you. If it's so very bad here why subject yourself to it? CF will email you your beta codes when it's ready.

These forums used to be pretty friendly, at least a year ago. Now all I see is arguing over semantics and unimportant 'points' about who did or said what. Is that really how people react when SB finally gets a solid release date? For shame.

 

I think it was just that a guy who was mad then said that or a troll.

 

The 7th? I could understand the 5th, but the 7th?

Valve wants the game as much as the developers and us do. Granted there could easily be an issue at the last second, but I could only foresee a few hours of delay. Anything more is a level of incompetency I've not seen on Valve's part.

This has probably been stated before by devs, and may possibly be in the title, but is when is a playable version going to be released for purchase on Steam? Also, stating whether or not it may coincide with the sheer number of Christmas discounts on said distribution platform would be helpful.

EDIT: Yeaaah, about the release date, this was before i read the title.

 

Often before a release I'm really stoked about, I'll find myself unable to really get invested in any other game, even if I'd previously been enthusiastic about it. Interestingly, it tends to drive me toward MORE familiar content - because I can't give my full attention to what I'm playing, I tend to play something I don't really need to pay attention to. Same with TV and movies - I watch those because they require less involvement than a game. Even better are reviews, podcasts, and commentaries - these require even less involvement, and allow me to aimlessly browse the interwebz at the same time to appease my listlessness. In fact, the lack of this reaction has sometimes surprised me - I didn't get this excited about Assassin's Creed 3, or Bioshock: Infinite, even though I had expected to be super excited.

I just have to survive another Black Friday as a salesman, and Starbound will be waiting for me on the other side! Until then, I'm plowing through all the SFDebris Voyager reviews, and old Tested.com podcasts while aimlessly failing at FTL.

Anybody else find this to be the case, or recall another game that provoked this reaction? (Mass Effect did it for me all 3 times, certainly)

 

in response anything related previously to mass effect/silent hill and all final fantasies it left me playing cruddy games/crappy movies whilst thinking and reflecting on whats to come aka new game that tickles my biscuit

 

Because of starbound I have become bored of everything else and only want to play starbound

Everybody stop whining, here's TWO solution:

1. Stop whining, you're sounding like a baby, this will only cause trouble. I'm not trolling.
2. Tiy is not trolling, whoever said StarBound will release on the 4th of Dec is factually correct, which saying, could be pushed further. And yeh all be hyper hyped.

 

Given that Steam is doing a sale from Nov 27th to Dec 3rd, releasing the Beta on the 4th seems very reasonable (and makes sense, seeing Tiy mentioning that Steam is pretty full until then) so I don't doubt that they're doing everything they can to make sure it's released on the 4th, though there's always unforeseen stuff that can happen...

its a good time because everyone will be looking for the next day sale only to see the big sales are all done. Then Starbound is going to be plastered on the front page and will get people slightly interested and then they'll click on it. If they like how it looks they'll buy it.

It'll probably be the best way to get the most new people to look at it.

 

Is this some sort of inside joke I'm not getting?
