To be honest, I just want the game to be good, so if they take more time than needed to polish it I'm fine with it.
Take your time, don't rush it, and give the players a rewarding prize for waiting. I know it sounds obvious, but there are some people out there ranting as if they want the game now. It's understandable, but might I remind you that if they release it in bad condition, we would all be sad. You included.

So... from todays update I have solved the updates release anouncement through the amazing power of math! Since I'm sure everyone wants to know, I'll share this discovery with you.

This came from the screenshots saying something along the lines of "Just a jump to the left"

Maybe it's a hint to the release... think about it for a sec. A jump to the left, well if we look at a clock, starting at the beginning of the clock time-wise is 12, right? Well a jump to the left by single digit would be 11... 11... well, let's grab that "2" from 12 and use that too add 2 11's 11+11=22 yes? Well 11 has two ones.. let's borrow one of those and add it to the 22. Now that would make 23... hmm... 23... Wait a second! 4th of august update.... let's take that 12 again and subtract that by 4... 8... ok. So let's see what we have? A 23 and an 8... wait hold on... 8... the 8th month of the year... is August... and the 23 of August this year.... Oh my god.... The Insomnia gaming event is on the 23rd of August this year! Release date announcement has been solved.

    Really unlikely, I'm afraid.

Think about it - they've been spending the best part of a week on the first boss. There are still at least nine(?) more to do. Plus an unknown amount of other work (the newsletter said there was lots still to do.)

Sorry, but I can't see beta coming for at least a month.

Well you may not be able to see it coming out "for at least a month" but signs indicate otherwise, especially with the insomnia event coming up. My undeniable math proves it, just look above. ( Don't take the match part seriously - ,- it was much calculation and coincidence, but seriously I'm certain that the release date will be announced at the insomnia event. )

True, but a lot of the work done for this first boss should be applicable later on, so I imagine they shouldn't take quite as long to make. Thanks to completing the first boss, other bosses won't be starting from scratch, and will at least have a basic framework.

At this point, I'm thinking of Beta as the full game and the actual release as a content patch.

You know what'd be a really great idea? Limiting the beta to the first tier. Because as it stands at the moment, it really looks like they're just going to release the full game (minus Novakids) and call it a beta because "We've yet to add Novakids."

I agree that there certainly will be some common features, but we can't really know how much work will be involved with any of the bosses. It's likely that the devs will want to give great variety in the ways each boss behaves and attacks, and it's possible some of these will be unique to a particular boss, requiring new code.

But hey, it's all speculation, so who knows. :)

Thats really what "beta" has become. I refer to them as soft-releases.

In fact its more of an excuse than anything else. Someone complaining? Tell them its a beta, they can't argue with that!

Either that or before insomnia, because they are going to be letting people test out the game and it wouldn't really be all that fair to the people who can't make it to the event. Either way I don't care when it comes out I just really hope it comes out o_O

def september at the earliest. If it was august they would know that and would have announced it. Once Tiy thinks it is ready for a beta they will go through about 2 weeks at least (normally I would say a month for a game but they know how badly we want this) of play testing the hell out of it fixing any bugs then announce it giving them 2 weeks to a month to get ready for the send out. Whenever they decide on a beta release I am sure there will be at least a month in advance notice at least. So if they haven't announced it you can be sure there is another month again I say.. at least.

It might not seem fair but they could feel that whatever pre-beta they take to the convention while good for showing off is not what they want to give people who paid for the beta.

Yeah I suppose your right, save the special stuff for the people who paid. But on the other hand they may want people to have equal access. Either way if they are ready to show it off at a public event the game must be near completed, or nearly ready for beta.

No "Estimated Beta Release Date" , the point is ,
Beta will be mid August or Starting September, the full release maybe november or december

This game is looking amazing, but is clearly not at a level they call complete ( or even close to a level of beta completion ). Although it's frustrating seeing nearly daily updates all the time, and no release dates, i am glad they are doing it this way! By doing this they have the whole community even more engaged wondering when it will be released, what it will include etc. I for one am on edge, reading the daily update every morning and not hoping for a quick release, but a well constructed release that THEY will be proud to be showing the world.

I for one would also rather fix as many bugs, add as many features to, and polish up any of the games i've made before releasing publicly. Because its quite clear they want to live up to all the speculation that has spread in the forums, and to do this they need a bit of time; but luckily, we know that the best people possible are on the job!

It doesn't matter whether you are actively trying to get the orange juice already or not, and how much a person knows about the time it takes is irrelevant as well. Either the moment when you get the orange juice is already decided, I.E. Fate, or it is a variable that is subject to change. If the future is subject to change, then you could make a prediction about the release date that is correct one moment and then wrong the next.

For example, I could say "the Dolphins will win the Superbowl this year", and be correct because that was what would happen in the future when I said it. Then some event might occur that changes the future so that the Dolphins don't win anymore, which would then cause the statement to be false. If this were the case, then the amount of time before I get a glass of orange juice is always set at the amount of time it would take me to reach it, and that time would increase or decrease depending on changing variables like how fast I am moving or whether there are obstacles in my way.

Either that or you could believe in Determinism, a philosophy that is required and assumed by all science-- things happen because something caused them to happen, and everything that happens is part of a chain of events that goes back to before recorded history. In other words: everything happens for a reason, you just might not know what it is. According to this, the moment when a specific domino will fall down is already set in stone based on when the other dominoes are falling before it, among other factors.

I'll also take this time to mention that Determinism utterly and completely rejects all statements of chance. Nothing that actually exists truly involves chance. When you roll a die, complex physics and rapid movement makes it nearly impossible for any human to predict the way it will land. Weather phenomena is all about predicting extremely delicate changes in wind movement and pressure. Even quantum mechanics is predictable in the form of probability waves, and like all of the previously mentioned things we only have limited capacity for predicting quantum activity. In Determinism, chance is only a tool to gauge the margin of error, it doesn't actually describe how the world works.

A third option is that you could believe in Dr Who Fatalism, the idea that there are certain events ("destinies", or "fixed points") that will always occur no matter what variables change. This philosophy works really well in fiction that features time travel, but has several other potential issues that I won't mention because I highly doubt that you believe in Fatalism.

Your statement, paraphrased as "every day that passes is one day closer to the release" would presume that Fate is true, probably in the form of Determinism, possibly Fatalism. As someone who believes in Determinism, myself, I would agree with you, actually. However, my original point would also be accurate: it does assume that the future is set in stone.

(By the way, I wrote a prize-winning thesis on Determinism and Free-will. Anyone can feel free to send me a PM if they want to hear more.)
