Where did I say anything about how those things were a substitute for a timely release? You said that CF doesn't care about pissing off their fanbase, and I was simply pointing out how wrong that statement is.

But apparently you'd prefer to ignore the point I was making, argue something completely different, and flame me in the process. Well done.

What I was arguing, which YOU ignored, was that that CF dosn't care about pissing of the fans in relation release dates and estimations thereof the things which you brought up where completely irrelevant to the point I was making. And If you insult me, do you really expect a nice reply?

I don't see how most of these arguments relate to beta discussion tbh.

While you may have been previously discussing release date estimations, your statement is a general statement about CF not caring about the community, with no reference to just being about release dates. Even there, they have responded to community anger over missing release dates, so they do clearly care what the community thinks.

I expect a reply which doesn't break forum rules, as well as common decency, when I haven't said anything that you should find offensive.

Yes, statements have a tendency to seem general when taken out of context. Just because it is one post doesn't mean that it cannot be part of the context of a larger argumentation, as is the case here. If one had to reiterate every point thus far made in ones entire argumentation in every post to contextualize it any forum-debate would quickly turn into people throwing gigantic, impractical walls of text at each other. And if you ask me, if CF really cared about not pissing people off they would not throw estimates around as callously as they do, instead they keep misestimating, people get angry and CF responds with excuses to calm people down.

And since you have kindly enough elected not to insult me this time around I have gladly reciprocated.

Alright, I might have aided in that somewhat back when I posted a few outlandish theories as to why the game wasn't finished, but not under the intention of trolling, I tried to make them sound so ridiculous that nobody would believe me. For comedy.

Unfortunately, some people thought I was serious and trying to inspire chaos, and I was banned for a few days, whoops.

People are so quick to call people trolls that they forgot what jokes were. Sad days, this internet.

Taking time to make a game as great as is can be is worth the wait.
Making fans happy by releasing an unfinished game early is not worth anything.
Looking forward to beta! Keep up the awesome work Chuckles!

A game that repeatedly misses proposed release dates generates unhappy fans, or the loss of fans in general.
Feeding fans Hype in order to keep them fans is deplorable and hardly has a placebo effect in most cases.
Looking forward to the beta! Keep up the work and don't disappoint us, Chucklefish.

How dare you try to breath hope and happiness into this den of anger.

Fun fact: the great artists people like to hold up as examples did almost all of their works either on commission, or at the instructions of a "patron", essentially a person who paid for their living costs and told them what to do.

Sistine chapel? Bought and paid for. Mona Lisa? Bought and paid for. Beethoven's symphonies? Every single one of them were composed for money, or at the instruction of an employer.

So if selling something makes it no longer art, then cross Michelangelo, Leonardo, Beethoven, Mozart, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Elvis, The Who, and every other name you've ever heard off your list of "artists".

If you don't think The Last Supper is art, you're badly, badly confused. And guess what? It exists because the wealthy Duke Ludovico Sforza told Leonardo: "Paint the last supper, or you won't get paid."

So what, pray, does monetary exchange have to do with a work's status as art?

I read near the beginning of the thread about a list of to-do before the Beta is released, and thought of an idea for it.

Obviously it isn't being posted directly due to spoilers and everything, which is fine, I and hopefully most others understand that completely. But I do have a suggestion for that that may be able to show progress towards the beta while still hiding spoilers, but it's just a suggestion, you guys do whatever you need to do, don't rush to get this thing out.

My idea was something like the road map idea, but simply not stating these features. Let's say there are 12 things needing to be finished before Beta release. Simply mark them as a number and a progress bar, no info given. This would give us an idea on beta release while still keeping things under wraps. So it would look something like:

    1. Complete
    2. Complete
    3. In Progress
    4. In Progress
    5. Not Started
    etc. etc.

Obviously this isn't perfect. some things are going to take longer than others, some things will be delayed or backed up, some horrible space monster devours a server, stuff like that. But it would give us a decent impression on how close the beta is. I personally cannot wait for the beta to come out, but I understand these things take time and effort. This idea of mine is also just that, an idea. Keep on rolling, Chucklefish!

(I also do apologize, I am still new to the forums and do not know how to format well)

    Quick business lesson.

I don't care how pretty it is or what it means. If it makes me a dollar and I can mass produce it, I'll take it.

Silly person! All of THOSE arguments happened like 150 pages ago! Show some respect for the hard work of these brave posters, valiantly managing to seek out new arguments and new disagreements, boldly complaining about things no one has ever cared about before!

This thread has become a new fascination for me; how much negativity can truly be spawned here? How will it mutate next? Who will bravely derail things and talk about random crap for two pages? Who's that weirdo who always writes in third person? All these questions, and more... they trap you here. Unable to escape. Buried alive. Buried alive!

I don't really know what your point is, or why you're phrasing it as "a quick business lesson". I'm not sure you're really making any meaningful comment on my post.

If it's a statement about what you want, as I would assume from your use of the first person, it's hardly a business lesson - it's you describing your own preferences. If you're generalizing and saying that everyone thinks this way, well, that's just plain stupid. Mozart wrote operas in his off-hours, too. He loved music and beauty. Artists get paid. They love art, but they gotta eat. There is no meaningful distinction between a product and a piece of art.

I realize I'm probably overestimating your maturity in believing that this would even be possible, but please, to satisfy my own morbid curiosity: do try to turn that bizarre, pointless piece of condescension into something that bears even the vaguest resemblance to a point. And please, refrain from parsing it as a "lesson" in business. I'm fairly certain there's nothing that you have to teach me on that subject.

I admit, it is more the pricing of the miniatures nowadays then the rules. 10,000 point armies are way out of order for what was such a simple game. I just get models now for the painting experience..

Misho has dyslexia man. Cut him a break. No need to go grammar nazi on a forum like this anyways. Kind of falls under the "don't be a jerk" rule.

i'm sorry i happen to be severely dyslexic i'm sorry if my poor grammar and spelling offends you so. i have to work hard to just string a coherent sentences together. without spell checking programs and predictive text my posts would be gibberish.

i had to work hard just to be this bad at spelling and i have to put time and effort into my post just so people can read them. i bet i put a dame sit more work into what i say then you have put into your post.

let's try this again shall we

"nothing and no one said it did. art can be a game. but games cannot be art by definition they are GAMES please don't mix up the word artistic with the word art."

if probably mad lots of mistakes. but then lol i'm not the one looking like a fool for mocking someones bad spelling and grammar.
