Of course not. That's why you've never seen them post answers to community questions, or provide a roadmap with overall progress, or give daily updates, or streamed their development, and why there's been utter silence from them EA-style for the entire development period. Oh, wait...

I think you're confusing your unhappiness, and your unwillingness to accept any CF responses to that unhappiness, with lack of caring on their part. That's not their fault if you won't accept their explanations, or if you don't like the other things they've tried to do for this community.

the game was promised for release in 2013, and it seems it will be!
it was never told if it was going to be a beta or a full premium release, and the way i see it the beta will be very much a complete sort of game!
at least much more than terraria...
so stop whining and go do your stuff, games aren't born in thin air, and i'd rather wait for a promising beta than have immediate access to a big fail beta.
all of this fuss: gone 1 day after beta release.
this thread shouldn't even have to exist....
instead go take a look at all those games that are being released one sequel each year after another, and tell me how long they last and how good they are.
game development needs to be taken good care of, and i think chucklefish is doing right by placing careful development before fast release.

Wulpher is getting some good vibes about tomorrow's announcement.
Its the literally the last chance they have if they even have a passing interest in releasing the Beta in November like previously mentioned.
But, not to sound rude, that IS panning on them meeting a date.
Granted TiY seemed to say "Mid-Late November" halfheartedly, its all we have left in terms of actual numbers.
The rest is just, "Soon, Soon, Soon"

 

Except you're misinterpreting what I said. He didn't promise the GAME would be out this year. He recently promised the beta would be out this year. I don't know how that could be hard to believe.

i'm sorry but no no and no it was a promise to release the game this year. there is a separate Q&A about the beta in the old FAQ. missing a deadline and promise is np. repeatedly missing them and then a pretending they never happens is a problem.

I think you are confusing your burning desire to spread your condescending preaching for having something of actual relevance to contribute. They have missed quite a few estimations and a promise of a full 2013 release. How does streams, roadmaps and community communications make any of thease less missed? Don't make estimations if you can't estimate and don't make promises you can't keep.

What I'm saying is that CFs trackrecord when it comes to predicting releases dosn't exactly fill me with confidcende fora beta 2013, no matter what they are saying.

 

Or better yet keep the promises you make. And make sure that you only ever make estimates you are comfortable following through on, regardless of consequence.

 

I really think some people need to just forget this serious gripe they have with Chucklefish. They're making a game for us, they may have made some mistakes, but so what? I've seen far worse from a lot more companies out there, and people forgive them and they shouldn't. As far as I see it, there is always a reason for why it has taken so long. Whether it be because they are fixing bugs, adding new content, or just taking some time off to relax - they aren't machines, they are people and you should show more respect.

If you disagree with what I'm saying, then I'd like to see you exemplary people get a team together and make a game. We'll wait for you to set an estimated release date, and If you encounter any problems along the way, or if you make any changes to the plans you present to us, we'll be sure to never let you forget about them.

 

i just want to say sorry Iterum for what i'm about to say i'm just frustrated atm and sick of reading same argument in defense chucklefish over and over

there not making the game for us there making the game for the money. if they were making a game for us they could just follow the dwarf fortress bisnes modal and ask for donation for development.

yes me too it why i don't give them my money, i hoped for better from chucklefish. was i mistaken? well we don't have long to wait and see.

there is always a reason for why it has taken so long i agree with you there, always a reason never answers. were not asking for a full game just a beta.

smart developers don't give estimated release dates they plan ahead so that the game is finished before the release date.

if got my fingers crossed for some beta new at the end of this week so i can stop feeling so angry and iterum sorry ripping one out of your post i hope your right and i'm wrong.

 

But they don't feel comfortable making a precise estimate. That's why they aren't saying anything. But everyone's demanding a date, and if they do give a date and don't meet it, everyone gets mad. On the other hand, if they don't give a date, then everyone still gets mad.

It's kind of a catch-22.

"But they shouldn't have given a promise they couldn't keep!" Well, they can't wind back time, so what do you want them to do?

Well, their mistake was giving dates that they couldn't keep up with, so they're not giving an exact date, therefore there's no risk of missing a deadline.

 

They gave an exact timeframe. Before January 1st.

 

What I am looking for is some confidence from this development team. I want them to be able to set a date and stick to it. There are going to be consequences to a release, and I feel like they should get comfortable with that fact and take the shot.
