Duke Nukem: Forever was the result of the game switching hands and being redone each time it did so, not the amount of time it took to release. I don't know the story about X-Rebirth, but Cube World is, well, it's a strange example. From what I recall it's a two person development team and they also had a lot of hype behind them. I remember once the trailer hit Reddit, hype hit an all-time high and people were clamoring to get ahold of what seemed like a fairly complete game. Fast forward to the alpha and it was just an awful, incomplete mess. The gameplay was boring as sin, there were glitches everywhere, and almost nothing had balance applied to it. *EDIT* I guess they assumed because it was labeled "Alpha" that people would give it a break, but the overall experience left a kind of bad taste in my mouth.

All that aside, I think we should stop mentioning Duke Nukem: Forever. It did take a long time to come out, but that's not why it sucked.

*secretly I didn't hate DNF, but that's maybe because I have a soft spot for Duke*

Then we have the people who are basically making the conversations about /the people/ in the thread.. and not the questions/comments. That just making things worse for everyone like you did by singling out one person. People keep doing it rather then address points they have. They keep on about persons rather then what is happening with beta.

Whatever the reason they decided to so - it doesn't help.

 

I feel like Borderlands related insults are something I can get into.

 

ofc these games' faults aren't entirely because of the time it took to release them
it's never only 1 reason, there's too many variables, but as I said, each case is a case. releasing the game sooner is not a waranty that everyone will be happy, and holding back the release is not a warranty that the game will be better.

Tragically it need not be so. I could be a thread where requests for information are heard as opposed to being drowned out. It could be a place where we ask questions like "are you on track for your release?" and "have you made the decision for how distribution will work?"

 

that is exactly its original purpose until it was turned into a Oubliette by dumping all the beta related post into one.

 

IMHO This thread was made for the express purpose of gathering everything on the forums regarding the beta, dumping it in here, and putting a bio hazard sign with no entry below it.
