Xander, what is your expertise? You sure have a strong opinion that everything could have been done better as if you have experience in the process of creating software. Are you an Project manager? Six Sigma certified? Scrum Master?

Being a staunch critic must mean you have some significant insight rather than a mere observer, please do tell.

I'm pretty slow to be moved to feel a certain way when it comes to this stuff, so when I start to feel a little low about this, I can only imagine how others feel. But, its more then that. I can't even bring myself to pre-buy games in greenlight, or from other indie devs now... Its like... Turned me off to pre-buying games in general, and again, I'm slow to anger (anger isn't what I'm feeling, just using the expression). Is it possible this debacle could hurt the market for this kind of buying?

Not everyone, just a handful of folks on here......my expertise is reading, and I read what my pre-order stated. Like John Wooden said...it all about fundamentals. Mr. Xander is the one who has stated that the entire Dev team has failed, and calling an entire team out means diddly unless you have the back ground to make such comment.

I knew you'd mention plagiarism, heh. It's funny how predictable an individual really can be.

By "means diddly" you mean it's not as authorized. So what? You've said things without the authority to be taken seriously. There are other appeals to make, and to take. Xander is radical, no doubt. You can choose not to reply, but instead put in your opinion that is just as unauthorized as the one you're criticizing. Neither of you are passing it as opinion, either.

It is pretty easy to be a physic after an event, but more power to you.

uh, no. I mean it has no relevance.

You know what they same about assumptions? What I have stated is a fact - Pre-order funds development and entitles you to beta access and the game. Show me where that is an opinion?

I've been involved in so many alphas and betas that I can see your point. Getting excited about a game and then having to wait, perhaps, an entire year before it hits the streets is enough to swear you off for good. I did that with Don't Starve and, quite frankly, by the time the game was completely done and released 'final', I could give a damn about it. See, all your playing time is under a half/partially finished game so when it is finalized and released, you've played all you want already. Still, though, you want a half-assed game production, look no further than Cube World.

same feelings here. And I do hope that if they delay beta to 2014 that thousands of people get their refunds and enjoy the game in less than reputable ways.
It'll speed up the learning process for chucklechumps if it worked out that way. But if im being perfectly honest, I don't think the dev team is foolish enough to delay the beta to 2014. I may be wrong though, you never know.

and the more time they take to polish the beta the greater the chance the competition will beat them to the finish line.

Ozzy? You do have a point. I am fairly radical and say whats on my mind, sometimes not expressing it well or perfectly civil. I'm an opinionated fellow and sometimes state things as fact when I shouldn't. I don't mean to but it happens. About to probably say something right now I shouldn't too.. probably a mistake but enough is enough.

First of all: Experience.. one thing I do need to say about that is I have some and you assumed wrong Paco. Amateur programming and mid-level management. I've listed it before though I forget to what detail, just like /another/ list you asked for Paco and I presented. Not relevant as Ozzy said - but whatever floats your boat. You'll have to do a little digging if you are really interested in it.

The last time I looked something up to for you it was brushed off. So I'm not bothering retyping or finding it. Knowing you though, you'll dig it up just to continue on a point that isn't really relevant.

Second: You know what is relevant to the thread Paco? What I talk about? Beta and problems and issues with it and how its being handled by the team. You know what you talk about Paco? Mostly the /people/ in the thread. You criticize them, often, rather then the arguments presented in the discussion. I'm doing so right now which is arguably wrong, but because the last fifty or so pages you've done this without anyone really calling you on it I feel it needs to be addressed.

I'm asking you simply to stop. You want to discuss beta, lets. Leave spending choices/habits, experience, age, social groups.. and all the side items you've brought into play about people out of it. Please. You make the discussion about the people, not what has happened with beta almost every time. I'm not a saint about this.. but it seems like every time you post its directed more at the /person/ being fundamentally flawed in irrelevant ways as the problem causing beta issues in some form or another, rather then addressing the words presented.

That is just not cool. I might earn an infraction for this, but somebody needs to say it.

In the same genre and basic visual style (action-adventure sandbox, 2D). I'd say it's a game in competition with Starbound for customers.

So you're saying that you don't believe the game could be as good as Starbound. Alright. I thought you meant that it literally was not a competitor in the market.

I dunno, I think it looks pretty neat actually. I already bought Crea and Edge of Space. Might buy this one too. I think the airship idea is fairly interesting. Just imagine making a gigantic pirate dirigible, attaching cannons and flamethrowers to it and letting loose the dogs of war upon your enemies. Also, space whaling. Gettin' Moby Dick up in here.

Same here. I have waited patiently since 2012, and put down a preorder (11 copies in total) in April. I have waited for seven months without a single refinement to the "2013" estimate; and I have been (for the most part) okay with that. But if they can't meet that 2013 date, after repeatedly re-hyping us, and telling us how the beta will work; that's where I'm going to ask for my money back.
