I wouldnt mind if it came out in December I have winter break then for 2 weeks

You're working yourself up for some possible heavy disappointment over some vague mentions.. It isn't coming today/soon.
They said they would give us some advanced warning and considering nothings even been mentioned in the newsletter or an email sent out or daily update about it specific..

December is still 2013. It's not like the developers are leaned back on a sofa, pointing at the forums and laughing in a chorus at how depressed some impatient members of the community are. They are doing their best. As long as the game does come out this year, the patient ones will be pleased. If it is indeed pushed into 2014, even if it is January the 1st, then it would be slightly a problem and would hollow the trust between the developers and the community.

Again ,never said they are lazy or doing anything wrong. And i think waiting almost a year without saying a word(first post) makes me anything but impatient. Defense forces need to lay down for ones and see that some things aren't handled that great in reality. If you give youre customers such a wide target then dont pull it thin. Then its better to keep quit about it.
And i know there are moderates or other staff members who keep watch on these threads, but still choose to let there fanbase defend points for them instead of making a small official statement themselves.
I have nothing against the whole starbound team and love to see a company that puts there heart into the game. But what they are doing right know is (trowing oil on a flame and just walk away) is disturbing.

Edit: But seriously, just because someone said one word doesn't mean you have to flip out over it. they say beta in like, every other daily update, its been confirmed by Tiy that you'll get beta this year, im guessing its going to be a holiday release so everyone can play it. (Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, New years)

 

The whole reason of giving a wide range is that when things don't go as planned(and which they usually don't), then not everything is lost and you can still get out with your word standing, even if it is a close one. If they would've kept quiet, I'm pretty sure they would've lost at least some of their preorders. People want a range of when the game may be coming out. Tyi himself said in the IRC that Starbound may come out in November. It was in some thread, just checked it, but don't remember where.

Do you even read? This is exactly what i posted before. Forums members reading between the lines ,understanding nothing about what is talked about in context. Just typical replys : YOUZ HABE BETA THIS YEAR ..,LDJSG2 DONE WhINE.
Its how they know what they can do with simple words and how they can be placed to get certain reactions. I wont be discussing this any further on here and reactions like this are also exactly the reason why i did even bother to post in a year.

 

Phonicrazor: Beta word is dropped in the update, 3 days silence. Please let this be true. Would be kinda lame to release it in December ,IMO they then only used 2013 to get a hype train and preorders achieved

 

Maybe November, There working on small things (Names of items, etc), day "Oct 18" Update says there getting things ready for the beta, there pretty much done tiers 1-3 (They said they would only get 1,2, and 3 in the beta). So yes, id say its coming November...

 

... Theyve beeninactive for threee days before yknow. As far as im concerned Molly just forgot to update again. Kinda like what Chucklefish does cuz theyre workin on the game, and they dont get enough time to tell us whats going on.

Its kinda like how I never go outside, because Im so busy working on my writing, that I dont actually go out and let people know Im writing. Id be doing something more productive inside

When they estimated a release date before and had to push it back. Much to the dismay of people who wanted them to release whatever unfinished pile of crap they had come hell or high water, instead of making the smart decision to delay it and work on it a bit more.

 

Honestly its in their best interest not to announce a date for the beta until they know for sure, like a week before the beta release. We've heard 'Maybe November' and honestly, thats good enough for me.

 

Much to my confusion, Starbound team doesn't believe in "alpha testing". Why not let the people, who so desire it, have their broken game? I guess it all comes down to "You can only leave the first impression once".

 

"Alpha testing" is a surefire way to undersell your game.
