Understandable, not the worst I've seen by far. A plaque on your ship might actually be nice, might not be something you would go "Well darn, I wish I found about this earlier." yet still show off your Starbound love with.

 

I personally would love an item that says "I'm better than you because I was in the beta". Let's hope Tiy makes the right decision and gives all a really cool exlusive item

 

Now i want a disslike button for that "I'm better than you because I was in the beta".....

 

From the voices of the children that echo through my mind...... They are evilly chanting..... they are repeating with rythmic stable trance.... over and over... they repeat the message of the ages..... release.... release.... release... release.... release..... release.... release... release..... release...... soon.

I'm TRYING to appease them! MADNESS! MADNESS SWELLS! The children.... THEY NEED IT! IT WONT STOP till.... you release....

BTW we love you Chucklefish! DOon't make me list individual people... I will but for now... we just love you all.

 

5 more months left for 2013...

I'm going to predict that Beta will be coming in November and that the full game will not launch until 1st quarter of 2014.

 

In the one thread about predicting the month of beta i said September, and i still feel like i can stand by it. If it even comes out late september that gives two-three months to get the game out. I don't think they'd go back on 2013 release. I also don't think they'd want to rush a beta any shorter than six weeks. Any shorter and we really would not have much time to actually find and report bugs. Even then they'd have very few players finding anything of the late game content, only the players rushing content. So i feel my guess is safe and realistic: September beta, november-december release. I'd be very VERY happy if beta were sooner.

 

Judging purely from the sound of their updates, a late July beta is possible. It depends on how much they have left to do and if they experience any more issues like the ones they had with the bed (Which is now complete) and the Ninja Rope (WIP). With that said, those 2 don't really effect the core game play, it more or less comes down to the quests and npcs imo. Those 2 are the biggest things they want polished before showing their game off to us.

As for a full release, don't care. I'll be happy with a Beta. Lol

 

I agree with late July or early August beta, but as it's been stated before, we're all only speculating. I don't know. It might be even later- or, like Lusid said, even late September, maybe, which would suck.

 

Just read today's daily update thread. Omni stated rather clearly that beta is still pretty far away.

 

When did he say that? He said he had a lot of bugs and c++ coding he had to work through. He said at the end that he has walled himself off from everyone else these past couple of days.

Edit: I mentioned late july is a possibility, but i should of edited to look like this instead:
a late July beta is still possible.

 

Something like what TF2 did with the Medals of Commendation. Players who joined at different milestones were given different badges.

Well... After seeing this at today's update, I felt that a July / August beta may be possible... just maybe... maybe...maybe...

Man, in the latest update, Tiy really sounded enthusiastic. It only puts more hope in my heart for a faster beta though I'm still gonna be patient.

 

Despite what some people might think I believe Tiy is looking forward to the beta as much as we are. I mean it will be the first point at which the world gets to see his beloved "baby" and all that jazz. Still don't get your hopes too high, otherwise you will be all made if it turns out they are not ready to release till a much much later date. ^_^

 

We run into the problem that they will inherently only show us what they have either completed or are near completing in the updates. Since we don't see what isn't at least presentable, we face the problem that we have a certain fraction of the game done, but we don't know the denominator. 4/?, if you will. it could be 4/5, it could be 4/50, we can't really tell. Not complaining, I just felt like stating my opinion.

 

I hope you're invoking the powers of sarcasm, the alternative is much, much worse.
