I would mostly have to agree, I played terraria and I was thinking, what to do next
I can solo reach wave 15 of pumpkin moon (havent played update with frost moon)
I have explored 90% of my world
fully working liquid generators and vats to combine them all
I have a storage room bigger then my house, but only 10% full
I can beat every boss with no challenge
I have full sets and weapons of melee, ranged, and magic
I have custom houses for each of my npcs
I have the hover board, bundle of bloons, and bat scepter. use the infinite flying bug with the first 2 and use the scepter and WALL OF BATS!
for stabound, I have a massive house, massive storage, much more to explore, any amount of decorating to do, populate my building, colonize a whole star system, whole star cluster, whole sector (right...) and beat each boss with minimum gear
terraria is currently better, starbound has more potential

It still has the exact same problem as Starbound currently does with one particular variety of weapon being miles better than anything else, therefore making using anything else pointless. You're saying the game is balanced when it really isn't, it's the exact same thing at the very core.

You're forgetting that. Everyone does for some reason.

Normally play single player but I am reaching out more because of this game. I want people lost in those stars just like me. Someone to share the adventure.

I'd say 25% inedible human personalities, 75% awful low-quality data-capped internets :> Coupled with the bill not always being able to be paid :wut: Not anything truly against online, per se, just my instability.. Like the one time I tried Black Ops online it took me two full days to finally realize I was lagging a full 3 seconds behind everyone else :D

My main gripe with invading a prison is getting tons of useless weapons. You might get an occasional good one, but the rest you probably won't even look at.

The drop rate needs to be reduced, and more side functions added for swords. If there are more side functions in later tiers...well, they need to appear more open in the early tiers.

For example, melee weapons can do only three types of elemental damage: Fire, Poison, and Electricity. There needs to me more, maybe one that has a freezing effect. Just more elemental effects in general, to make weapons feel more unique, and not just the same as everything else, but with more damage.

I can dig that. I agree to an extent but the same could be said of all games with weapon drops. Once you can sell/break down those weapons into pixels the more you will be begging for that kind of thing.

Starbound's potential is indeed.. intriguing :p Scary, but intriguing.. So much could be done (wrong or right), but its a lot of work.. Same with Terraria, the amount of stuff that "fits" the game is virtually endless :wut: Even through modding it all won't be available :( Don't want anyone to think I'm knocking one, or loving the other more.. I too have Starbounds early age in mind here! :p

Both games need upgrade trees for their weaponry so you CAN love a single weapon all the way through the game if you choose to :wut: Also, to cooltv27, try that Frost Moon (I haven't even tried yet..) I've heard its virtually unbeatable :p Lots of people crying for nerfs means its just as tough as it should be :>

Really? I feel the exact opposite. Take the Magnet Sphere and the Shadowbeam Staff for example. I don't find myself using one and ditching the other, because they both have different uses: the Shadowbeam Staff's beam ricochets off walls, so I can get enemies at tricky angles. It also pierces enemies, so segmented enemies can really feel the pain. The Magnet Sphere automatically attacks all enemies in range, so it's useful when I need to get enemies off my back, or when I just want to deal extra damage by launching a Magnet Sphere and switching to another weapon to use in tandem.

There's also the Rod of Nimbus, which also serves a different purpose as an area of denial sort of thing.

Some things are flat out better than others, but that's kind of the point.

I mean, yeah, being able to sell weapons will alleviate some of my worries about getting too many weapons, but I'd rather see the drop rate reduction + more unique weapons implemented.

I love both SB and Terraria :DD
Too bad I can't play any of them because I have to play audiosurf!

And that's sorta not related and made no sense...

    sorry...

From what I have seen of that, I can sympathize with your curse and wish you the best. I have run out of most time for both because of discovering Record of Agarest War just recently.

Terraria has the better combat model by leaps and bounds. There is not even remotely a competition between the two games with respect to combat, as good combat systems take years to perfect. When Terraria first released, the combat was far worse and this worse model can be still felt in the early game. Starbound, however, already has more building content than Terraria, and this is only the tip of the iceberg. With the number of micro, medium and large scale random encounters in the game, the worlds of Starbound are already far more interesting than Terraria's single world. Sure, you may have to throw away some crummy weapons from fighting through a human prison, but seriously, you just fought your way through a human prison :p

Yes OP this is much better then Terraria. Ponder this though- would starbound exist if there was no Terraria success?

I really only find this to be the case if you're obsessed with furniture and such. The worlds themselves, as generated, aren't half as interesting and are almost more predictable than Terraria's, which is saying something. Single-biome planets were probably a bad idea.

Tell that to all of star wars. Name one planet that wasn't in the games with more than one biome. And don't you dare comment that the prequels make the entire series a not good idea.... and don't mention Naboo. I have PTSD from galactic conquest in Battlefront 2 because of that place.

It's a stupid idea in Star Wars, too. Did I imply myself to be a huge Star Wars fan?
