[BETA] How long to wait to Beam Down?

I just went to a new World and I was wondering how long I have to wait til I can Beam down to it?

Its been about 5 minutes and I have tried 20 times.... all I get is back to the ship.

I used all my fuel getting to this planet..... I just starved to death trying to get down there.... I feel this cycle will continue.... until I am broke.

 

em, normally you can beam down right after the game starts. Try to start new game.
Also make sure, that you press E button to beam down (and not the right click)

 

You should be able to beam right away, might try saving logging in and out. Or flying to another planet.

 

Cant travel to another planet... No more fuel.

I press E to beam down, but it only beams me back to my ship.

 

OK so I can fly to the moon for only 1 fuel... I can beam to the moons surface... but its threat level 5.... not 1 like the other planet I was trying to beam to.

 

Something can go wrong mid travel that causes this. If you travel back again, it *should* work...

 

Try clicking the teleporter icon in the ui in the upper right.

 

Sounds like a bug. If you are still having issues after trying out what was mentioned above, then I recommend remaking your character and telling us if that fixes the problem.

 

Neither of these worked. And after trying the first one it now wont let me back on the moon. I'll try a different character later. Bed time for me.

PS, I feel like the problem is it dumps the planet from memory and has to reload it when someone enters, but takes too long to load... so long that if you are continually trying it may dumping it while loading it.

 

Have you tried relaunching the game?

 

Yes, that did nothing. I also tried a different character.... The result was the same.

 

Yuck, could try verifying your game cache if you got this through steam.

 

When my friend tries he get the same result at first, but waits 2 minutes and then he can get on.... that doesn't work for me. SO I can only get on Worlds he is already on.

 

This is a bug, and it's not an independent issue. I would report it to the bug tracker thread along with all relevant information.

EDIT: As a work around, you CAN beam down to the planet if you try enough times. Using the button on the right-hand side of the screen generally works better.

 

Definitely a bug, same thing has happened to me. I keep making new characters but I can't leave my ship. I left my ship once and I saved and quit immediately. When I loaded that save I was back in my ship and can't leave

Bug report thread would be more accurate, probably. It can be found here. Report any bugs you find here, and you can look at which bugs have been found.

EDIT: Checking the database, the bug is apparently from the planet not having been loaded.

 

That would be if it didn't take over an hour and still not get on.
The issue is it clearly can't handle mutliple worlds in a universe.

 

I would say it is an issue with your universe, and it would be a good idea to back up your universe folder and then remove the contents. You can try to place the planets back into the folder if the game runs correctly then. I'm just guessing there is some sort of corruption of the planet data.

 

Well, I only know as much as the database tells me about the source of the issue. I've had the same bug happen to me several times and I eventually teleport spammed onto my planet. I wish I could be more help. :\
