Yep, nobody expects hd cutscenes so bigger=moar content. And 'moar content' can't be wrong, right? :>

Full size of the game will probably be around 50 Mb, just like Terraria, but if the game size is bigger than that, it would not matter for me.

Pack 80 gigs into it. I have a couple of terra drives. :)

Way way way way less then 2gb, even less than 1gb, maybe around 500mb. If it goes over 1gb I will have to jump of a bridge with disappointment. I have limited internet use see, and I have to share it, so no large downloads for me (contributes to the reason i hate steam).

Considering the size of the game Terraria, and that game is about 45-115mb, i would expect Starbound to be a minimum of 900mb, but no greater than 2GB period. Wishful thinking on the 5GB idea, at that point the graphics would have to be on a whole other scale, and their would have to be a lot of 3d cut-scenes to justify such a large installed version of Starbound.

Somewhere around... 100 to 500mb. And i think that going beyond 200mb is exaggerating

Edit: Previous post showed me that im underestimating it. Don't think it will go beyond 1gb it seems.

Measuring this in GB seems a little silly to me.

  12. The bigger, the better, actually. More stuffs!

If the download did take awhile, though, I might just die of anticipation before it completes

If you look at Terraria, that was only around 50 meg. I wouldn't expect starbound to be much bigger. However, we already have nearly a CDs worth, file size, of sound track, so I'd probably put the estimate more around the 1GB mark. Sprite based games like this generally don't take all that much disk space, it's when you start getting complex 3D models with lots of skins where it starts to get chunky, Just one skin can be as large as a dozon spritesheets.

  15. Infinite Gigabytes.

Wouldn't it take literally forever to download, though?

Not if Chucklefish simultaneously created a new ISP available for everyone in the world that had UNLIMITED upload and download speeds!! Problem solved, lol.

You would just stream the unlimited data at unlimited speeds. Mind blown.

People keep saying the more GB the better, WRONG! When the file size is large, its more likely to get currupted on download and it also means they haven't been design the code very well. It should not require to much as all the images i would imagine will be in texture sheets, minimizing the size. As for the code, it should not exceed 500mb by itself (unless they have 20M+ lines of code, which maybe like.... have to ask bartwef some time...).

It has to be able to reach rural Tasmania, which i doubt... not even Telstra does that well.

umm if the file got corrupted while downloading means your internet sucks, and we are talking about the content and your agrument is invalid

Oh, it would reach small 1 man islands in the middle of the Pacific. It would be an ISP supperior to every other ISP ever created.
