Can I just close the command window or is there a clean way to shut down a server?

On Linux I just pressed CTRL+C (the standard shortcut to stop a process) and the log said "Info: Server shut down gracefully"

I'm not sure if CTRL+C also works on Windows...

Yep, windows server shuts down good with CTRL+C too.

has anyone figured out how to do this automatically? sending a sigint on linux kills the process and corrupts the worlds.

For me, kill -INT pid seems to work fine, checking the server logs, it says it has shut down the server gracefully.

Ok, before i had put up all my universe and mod files, i have used a automated startup script for starbound now the worlds are corrupt and starbound is constantly restarting.

Any idea how I can stop it entirely, scripts are in /etc/init.d/starbound and or /etc/init/starbound.conf... I've managed to "sudo mv" both files to just /etc/ but the damn server automatically starts anyway..

Can someone enlighten me on how to kill/end server - so that I can replace my universe and mod files before starting it again?

I would also prefer for the server window to start in a screen/window, so that I can see the server output, because now it's completely hidden...
