Are you saying you want your beam out set to your house by using the bed?

I wouldn't mind them letting us create a beacon so we can beam back to an area we have explored to.

They should make an object that makes it possible to land on the surface of that location, but I wouldn't say that the beds should be the the one, since it's already used as a healing object. A different distress beacon(One that makes you spawn on the surface of that location) would be cool.

I wish beds would be more like Minecraft and make the nighttime disappear.

I agree, if nobody else is on the planet if I get in a tent or bed I would like time to move a little faster.

Don't expect teleport beams to go below surface - Ever. But expect being able to move the beam placement around.

how about simply speeding time up while you sleep in bed?

Exactly how it should be, though making expensive and one time use transport enhancers would be nice for pushing the beam in location underground.

I completely disagree - Once you go under, you're on your own. You don't depend on "emergency services" to pull you out if you get stuck or critically injured - You make sure that you have a safe descent that you can get back up to the surface.

I agree with that, but at the same time when I get really deep into a planet I would like to be able to craft a temporary way to go there and back. I do believe if they had something like that it should be really expensive to build and not reclaimable after you place it.

I agree, it'd be nice to have a way to move where on the surface you beam down to, so I can beam directly to the abandoned Apex lab I claimed as a base rather than having to beam down and run for two minutes every time just to get there.

I agree with the idea of crafting a beacon to beam from your ship into a place of your choosing. But I also think that the ability to make a set of teleport pads that allow you to beam around a planet would be nice too. That would allow some level of teleporting underground. Or at least allow us to make an elevator shaft with working elevator :p

Yeah, I don't really care if we get anything for underground beaming but I way to set your beam in location above would be really nice.

    Two words: Teleportation Mod.

I think there should be a teleportation "network" of sorts, though creating a teleport "node" would not be cheap, and would be for later-game tiers. (Such as requiring titanium, diamond, and perhaps plutonium)

The "network" would be limited to only the planet your currently on, since teleporting between planets would be kinda.... "out there", though you should be able to "Favorite" planets.

For coming back out, you don't really need to worry about a special teleportation device when you could just quit the game and re-enter - your character will be back at the ship.

There was however one BIG problem with the way beds worked in Terraria.

Any new players joining your game will always default to the 'default spawn location' or even if you joined that map with other characters.

Thats why, with all these kinds of games, its best to build your base AROUND the default spawn location, that way all your characters and all your friends and anyone who ever wants to join will spawn AT your base without having to traverse the landscape.

That is of course assuming that Starbound won't let you pick someone else's "beacon" (I assume we'll be placing a small beacon of some kind to mark a beam site) when you land on a planet. Basic permission settings that could allow friends to land on your beacon, but disallow "strangers".

Surface Beacon: Sets where you teleport down to on a planet.
Surface Teleporter: Allows you to teleport to a Planet Beacon.
Planet Beacon: Sets where the Surface Teleporter will teleport you to. Can be set below ground.
Teleport Relay Beacon: Extends the range underground your Planet Beacon can be to be in range of the Surface Teleporter.

I disagree that at end game exploring underground should be as tedious as it was at the start of the game.Say I've made a hellevator and hit the "bottom" of the planet. Now I spend ages going back up (or take the express death route), dump off all the junk I picked up and want to go back down... another long trek down again.

Having a fixed point underground you can quickly get to does not make underground exploring less hazardous, as you'll eventually be too far to escape back. But it will save time travelling back and forth. Something I was finding tedious for a time on one planet.

or alternatively, have a way to move the spawn point of all new people... Make it so it can only be set up in a "safe" area and will default back if said safe area becomes "unsafe".
