Beds Heal Quicker The Longer You Sleep In them

    This is just a simple suggestion, but I believe beds could be improved by implementing exponential healing depending on how long the player has slept in one. It would cut down on the tedious waiting for the early-game characters who don't have a lot of healing items or who don't want to use them when in the safety of their ship/home.

    tl;dr: the longer you sleep, the quicker you heal.

    I don't really think anyone can stay in bed long enough for it to take effect. Unless there's some health upgrade item I don't have yet.

    This could work, but I think we just need more craftable healing items.

    Understandable, but beds are mostly an early-game healing item anyway for players who don't have stimpacks yet or have a hard time getting plant fiber for bandages.

    I'd just prefer not to have to get up and go do something afk while I wait for my character to heal.

    Yes please. Or just a buff to beds around the board (perhaps a flat amount plus a % of your health, increasing based on bed quality?)

    This could work as well, but the issue would be players jumping into beds during a fight for a quick health boost before jumping back into the fray.

    My suggestion makes it dangerous to sleep with monsters about, as the first few seconds wouldn't heal you that much and leaves you vulnerable.

    Make beds percentage-based. If someone wants to use one during a fight, uh... good for them? It'd be hugely difficult and annoying (you'd have to be completely safe), and at that point why not just use healing items? They're not that hard to come by.

    Decent healing items are hard to come by in the early-stages of gameplay. Players are more likely to build a bed first than a few bandages, which they'll burn through quickly until they get some good armor.

    Hrm. Maybe your experience was different because your early planets have been different than mine... but you know you can cut down vines and immediately turn them into bandages, right? I've always had effectively unlimited bandages and have never, at any point, felt like I was in any danger of running out; I always cut down every vine I come across whenever I'm below ~1000 plant fibers or ~100 bandages.

    It took me much longer to build a bed, because I had other things I'd rather use wood for.

    I know about the vines.

    Gathering wood is always the first thing on my mind when I first start out, getting stone being second and fiber being third. I'm not trying to make beds better than bandages and other items, just trying to make them more useful.

    I might be wrong on this 1 since I only played SB for a while before I decided it lagged to hard to be playable, but how are plant fibers hard to get?
    On my forest world it took 10 seconds to get 20 fibers or so. And even in a desert there are these plant "pots" around which drop fibers.
    I had a shit ton of bandages without breaking a sweat, and would even suggest cutting it down some more because that was just to easy.

    That does however not mean I don't like your suggestion, because as it is now, beds are kinda useless. They heal so slowly you might as well just die, and later in the game you don't even need them anymore.

    Unrelated: Does anyone know why the suggestion robot guy to vote this suggestion up is missing?

    I'd like this addition quite a lot, it would be nice to not take so long to heal when sleeping, it seems like more of a time-sink than anything else at this point.

    I certainly agree with the OP here. Beds giving you an exponential healing rate would both save on player downtime and keep you from using them in a fight (because that's just too silly for me ;) )

    I also believe the beds could be a little more useful, without being overpowered.

    The healing rate in beds is far too slow. If there are no aliens around, you should be able to "fast-forward" this process.

    Additionally, I wouldn't mind being able to sleep through the night.
