With the recent rebalance, I've been going through my bandages like candy. Because I can't replenish my bandage supply fast enough, I've been hauling a bed around with me at all times using it to heal when I'm out of combat; However, current healing provided is painfully slow and takes me out of the 'game' for 2> minutes. Perhaps we could get a 5-10% increase in healing per second per tier of material used to make said bed? I'm not sure how many tiers of material you can make beds out of though so perhaps 5% is more balanced when looking at end-game beds. Ex. Assumed 10 tiers of materials. A max level bed would provide 50% faster healing than say, a pile of hay.
Expanding on this, I think there should actually be a specific "recuperative bed," like a healing pod (standing upright, maybe?) that you enter that heals you very quickly. Maybe have it require Titanium and Uranium to make the crafting a little tricky but ultimately worthwhile? If an "Exhaustion" meter enters the game, real beds would refill it, but this bed's only purpose would be straight-up rapid healing.
Might need some more testing but i swear the avian sacrificial altars (that you can lie on as a bed) heals you much faster than normal... Anyone else noticed this?
I really like the scarcity of healing items in this game since it encourages you to take up farming. As much as I love the idea of beds being useful, I gotta wonder if in the end being able to just rely on lugging furniture around'll make for a bit of a dissonance in the game.
You could fix that by just having specific healing beds only work in your ship, so you can't just put one down while on one of your mining treks in order to cheese-heal.
maybe beds could only be placed inside meaning people would have to hake a house which would take up resources?
Searched through the code, Avian Sacrificial Altars and Apex Torture Beds heal at a rate of 2.5x (150% MORE) compared to anything else.
@Axelzero is already working on a mod that gives the beds higher regin rates and a few other things based on tier. but I do agree, this ought to be implemented as a vanilla feature Better Beds Mod: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/better-beds-mod.63/ nice find.
I'd like to add that with armor giving you health , healing with a bed with a high tier armor takes an insane ammount of time. Although you can easily fix this by taking the armor off , it's quite inconvinient (Also your character is shown without armor when he is in the bed.) .
