It's probably one my least favorite episodes, to be honest. It had some things that stuck, like Flutter-tree and Braeburn, though.
Let's rock out for page one hundred: Andesite /ˈændəsaɪt/ is an extrusive igneous, volcanic rock, of intermediate composition, with aphanitic to porphyritic texture. In a general sense, it is the intermediate type between basalt and dacite, and ranges from 57 to 63% silicon dioxide (SiO2) as illustrated in TAS diagrams. The mineral assemblage is typically dominated by plagioclase plus pyroxene and/or hornblende. Magnetite, zircon, apatite, ilmenite, biotite, and garnet are common accessory minerals. Alkali feldspar may be present in minor amounts. The quartz-feldspar abundances in andesite and other volcanic rocks are illustrated in QAPF diagrams. Classification of andesites may be refined according to the most abundant phenocryst. Example: hornblende-phyric andesite, if hornblende is the principal accessory mineral. Andesite can be considered as the extrusive equivalent of plutonic diorite. Characteristic of subduction zones, andesite represents the dominant rock type in island arcs. The average composition of the continental crust is andesitic. Along with basalts they are a major component of the Martian crust. The name andesite is derived from the Andes mountain range.
Malachite often results from weathering of copper ores and is often found together with azurite (Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2), goethite, and calcite. Except for its vibrant green color, the properties of malachite are similar to those of azurite and aggregates of the two minerals occur frequently together. Malachite is more common than azurite and is typically associated with copper deposits associated with limestones, the source of the carbonate.
...I feel like staying in this avatar. I only changed to it for April Fools, but now... ._. Moomoomoomoomoo.
Here's the funny part: I've always liked rocks even before Maud came into existence, and it's one of the reasons I like her so much.
So anyone remember that little "message" that Kevinsano got, the one about Twi, well here's a nice little rendition of it:
I was a hobby-level geologist for...uh. Longer than some of you've been alive. I don't have most of my collection any longer, sadly.
