And that's something I would agree with, the higher tiers should involve high tech items, that's also where I think pixel costs should come into play, not tier 1.

Midnight and I had a little discussion about this last night. Basically, what are pixels, and why are they needed. He couldn't think of anything other than them being a currency, so I took that a step further. Think about real-life for a moment here. What would you need to make an iron pickaxe? Iron for the pick and the handle from your previous pick, right? Simple enough. What about the tools needed to shape and fuse the metal and wood? You never make that. My theory are that pixels are, just like they are portrayed in most pixel games, just building blocks. Blank, modifiable building blocks that you can make smaller, crafting-based items with that are insignificant enough not to require an in-game item. It would also make sense as the tiers of tools go up. Higher tiered equipment means more efficient and complex tools needed, which in turn requires more pixels to form.
Obviously this is just a theory, but one I personally like to envision.

Actually, there's no human in your post. I just liked the idea of pixels being used to craft extremely fine machinery.

Just tested one more thing. I made a new test character, gathered up about 350 fuel (unrefined wood) and grabbed a couple other things, and headed to the coordinates, system, and planet where my current actual character is. Then I beamed down, and there at the site was Moontaker's base camp! I dropped off the stuff she doesn't have - different seeds and fruit, an eyeball-based blueprint - and saved on out.

 

As soon as my game stops crashing I'm trying that!

 

Hah. Three Lyra's around here including you, and there's plenty more alternate-universe you's around. (Hopefully not around here. It's confusing enough with just three of you.) Just be glad you're not one of the more extreme human-watchers. They get a little odd.

Anyone found an Ocean planet? I would really love to explore one, but I'm not sure if they're in the game yet. I mean, I heard tentacle planets are, but at higher levels n stuff. So what do you need to find one?

 

In addition to being a fine way to get quick access to race-based seeds, it means it's very easy to twink up new characters in case you feel like making a set of tools, hunting equipment, cold-weather gear, and maybe a tank's worth of fuel for your new characters.

 

I have no idea what you're saying. The BBTS irc is perfect! It's IRC, and the channel is #BTS, not #BBTS. Better, I can access it. My Skype doesn't work, and my microphone is busted. Bon-bon stepped on it a month ago and it's too complicated to fix.
