The furnace isn't appearing in my crafting menu and this is frustrating me.

Remember, you need to press "E" on a crafting bench to use it. It's not like terraria in the sense that everything you can craft is in your main menu, each crafting hud is different.

 

Or middle click.

 

Yush. Don't really use it as often (at all) so it slipped my mind, but yes, you can do that too if you prefer.

I found a cape that lets me see farther when i use ctrl, i also found a backpack that recharges my energy faster.

I really like starbound's crafting more. Just middle click everything. Better than shifting my hand to press esc IMO.
