Bands in Starbound

We desire the need to play music together,for us it's a treasure.

 

I'm not sure how that's even possible(I know nothign about this but I've never seen a game where the online is perfectly in synch, even on a low ping server) ..maybe LAN, but not over a server where people have ping and connection differences. Also, netcode is a pretty important factor. Client side or server side, and lag compensation aswell. If It's possible to perfectly synch audio across a server, why doesn't skype do it? wouldn't it cost a lot of bandwith anyways?

 

While we're talking about the music system, I found something that will almost definitely come in handy. It's a program that can convert midi files to ABC files. Seeing that midi files of your favorite songs are generally A LOT easier to find than ABC files, it will be very useful. It was originally made for Lord of the Rings Online, but I don't see why it wouldn't work in Starbound.

 

Considering every new band, real or not, sucks this may not end well

 

That's the optimism we like to see.

 

Mainly what I hope for music in Starbound someday is for people to design stage set-ups, attract servers of people, and have some amazing light shows with all those crazy effects. I hope the dev team adds some sort of machine that will auto-play music you write for it without needing a player to hold an instrument, like an electronic keyboard.

 

That would be very cool too.

 

The hardest part will be coming up with a decent band name.

"Alexa and the Space Hobos" is already taken.
