Closed Backup Files Issue

whenever i try to load singlerplayer or multiplayer. i keep crashing due to saying that backups are causing it to crash. deleting them after starting game up only causes it to make more backups when selecting a character to play as. is their a way to disable the game from making backups everytime i select a character for single and multiplayer so i dont keep crashing? pretty much making the entire game unplayable

 

tried in openGL mode. didnt work either

 

Where do you see the message saying it's the backups causing the crash?

 

right when i click my character and try to load my save file. a error pops up saying something like this:
and it only appears when i select my character when a backup is in the players folder
