Backpacks and their usage.

    Other than the lantern on a sticks, are there any other backpacks with a use? Because they all seem cosmetic now.

    Havent seen a backpack, other then the lantern stick, with functionality either.

    I had found two air tanks in chests on a ocean planet thinking "Oh, this must be useful when I get another tech other than O2" For why the quest sent me here. I get Radiation tech, jump in water with tank. Oh it works. Make sure and take off tank.... Still can breath. Wait... what? Look back at radiation tech. OH this offers breathing too? Well... ok, fine, Why the flip do I keep the o2 tech as a option then.

    There's also a crystal backpack, but it's cosmetic. They should add extra slots, seeing as otherwise you make the lantern on a stick then never get anything out of the backpack slot except for light.

    I have like 5 backpacks all of which are completely useless, I really should toss them but I always hoard items.

    I used to collect angel statues in Terraria thinking that sometime in the future the devs would make angel statues some super rare or powerful item, as an ironic twist on them being completely useless beforehand, but they never did.

    while i kinda agree that backpacks need more functionality
    gonna be hard to determine what that is for most

    considering about 40% of the backpacks would be usless overall

    30% we will never use such as oxygen tank etc because we all ready have a protective nano layer of oxygen from our tech

    besides giving a small radius of light or extra inventory space.. i dont see much other use for any other ideas that might come into play

    granted they could make it work and if they are very creative they could come up with something great for each different backpack.. but i think its highly unlikely

    One problem I could see is how they would program a backpack that you can take off and switch out. If you have additional inventory spaces that have been filled up, what will happen to the items if you take the backpack off? Will you make the player unable to take it off? And in that case how do you determine what grants a player the ability to take it off?

    Backpacks that increase inventory space temporarily are probably too difficult to add into the game over the more obvious mechanics, so if they are implemented then it probably won't be for a while.

    They could just drop the items in the extra inventory onto the floor. Just like the storages that gott nerfed storage space in the latest update did (so the functionality is allredy ingame).

    To my knowledge, the all-seeing cape USED to increase your cmera's range when you hold down Ctrl, however, they've boosted the range to that of the cape already, rather than leaving it back in its old 1/4th the range. Used to be all-seeing was excellent for sniping.

    but that requires more advanced camera controls . because if you go to far of screen you will fall to your death through the world

    so having something like that for the all seeing cape would mean they would need to to adjust camera zoom/depth further outwords so you can see more

    What I'm saying is that the All-Seeing Cape *ALREADY* did that before, however Chucklefish has made the OLD useage of the Cape the DEFAULT for the camera now. Used to be your camera would only go so far, and the Cape would extend the range when you Ctrl-moved it, NOW however, you don't need the cape to get the full range.

    Effectively making the All-Seeing cape Purely Cosmetic. Someone needs to find the Toxic Backpack, and find out if it still increases energy regeneration in Direct Sunlight. if it doesn't, that means that only the Lantern Stick has a backpack effect anymore.
