So what first made me think of this is Tiy's most recent post of the flower field. Now I thought, wouldn't it be more immersive if the flower field extended into the background to give it a bit of 3 dimensional depth. Imagine coming upon an apex research center and seeing it expand into the background. Key features: + Backgrounds based on whats on your screen that your standing near + Biome and sub-biome specific village/cityscapes incorporated into the background. + Random Dungeons that look like what you see in the front of the screen scattered sparsely into the background This gives a more connected feeling that the background and foreground are one in the same. I love what you guys have done so far getting it to feel that way. I think this just adds a step farther. ~Thanks for taking the time to read.

It's a neat idea. But... Backgrounds are probably biome-specific. Unless you were to make each dungeon or flower-field its own specific biome, you can't expect each background to be different.
Sounds good! Personally, the flower thing would be the extent to which I would go, but other stuff might work. I guess it's really just that block feeling in the foreground mixed with a blended feeling in the background that is stuck in my head when I think of this. Though I'd love to see a bit more of that connection you talk about between foreground and background... if only just a little bit.
This isn't true. If you're familiar with game development, there is an easy way to do this. Any pre-generated "structure" like this could have a portion of their "graphic" drawn at a depth slightly higher than the background so it overlays it. No "mini biomes" necessary. I think this is a really cool idea and probably something that the devs haven't pondered. Upvoted.
Mini biomes are already stated to be in game. The excess of flowers could even be a flower mini biome of some sort.
I like this idea, it does seem a bit difficult to do for smaller details such as these but mini-biomes having their own background could be cool and a nice bit of immersion.
To those of you who liked it. Feel free to suggest it to other people as I'm more of a lurker then an actual poster. Thanks even those who voted that they didn't like it and took the time to stop by and read it.
