Awful Pixel System

That is because they got bailed out. The money they lost gambling on loans ect in the housing market was money people invested that they had no right to gamble with.

This long? It has been only a few days! On top of that he has decided to revamp the entire system. I'm not even convinced it was the feedback that made him decide to change it. With as quick as he acted I wonder if he planned on this for some time and just hadn't gotten around to it until the complaints reminded him.

Yes they are easy to come by but they also have very, very little use in game as of now.

Sometimes it is as simple as you invest so much into something you miss that it doesn't work.

Oh, yes, because obviously they made the entire damage system a day before Beta came out. /s

Before the beta came out they were focused on implementing the systems necessary to get the game out to everyone before the end of the year not balancing the systems in place.

And they got bailed out because banks are Federally Insured. Meaning, there's not supposed to be any inherent risk to losing your money that way, nor were they supposed to be gambling with other's money like that in the first place, as you said. In other words, you're not about to lose money by stashing in in a bank.

...You know, this is getting way off topic. We should probably stop...

Maybe they just wanted our feedback on wether they should just rebalance it or change it entirely.
May also be due to the fact they were using cheated weapons during their playtesting.

It was sorta on topic. And I don't think insurance gives your the right to do something near illegal with other peoples money. They had to be bailed out so no one would lose all their savings.

On another note just consider the 40% the bank fees.

The problem with it is it is to steep. 1-2 levels up or down and something is useless or super powerful. The new system will hopefully make it more of a gradual climb.

Agreed but I thought about trying to fix the current system and the only fix with the way ap worked is too add more stats which I think is way more work and more complicated than changing the system.

You're still missing the point. I don't go storing my money in a Savings Account just to lose 40% of it to banking fees. If anything, it's to keep it all in a safe place and actually get a very small amount of extra cash as well.

If a bank was charging that much to me every time I made a deposit, I'd feel better storing it all under my mattress and having a very small risk of losing some of it to say... a guy who breaks into my house and steals 30% of it.

Not seeing what's so apparently bad about the new system at all.

If anything it appeals more to the casual player base than the current iteration does. While still allowing there to be some penalty to death instead of just encouraging suicide farming etc.

Considering most people will die a TON anyways this pixel bank helps MOST players a lot in saving pixels. Only the few people who almost never die (people who can play all day and normally not even die once) shouldn't use the pixel banking stuff.

Guess I'll weigh in though it won't mean much after 15 pages.

I think the fee for banking your pixels is fair. You people who are struggling with attaining pixels to buy the things you want are forgetting either one or two things. One, the refinery acts as a constant flow of cash as long as you mine regularly. Two, we'll someday be able to sell our items, and I don't know about you but I've got (not for long, but oh well) quite a lot of items from my dungeon adventures that will net me thousands and thousands of pixels. Will I mind spending a percentage of it to have the rest totally safe no matter how many times I die? Nope. In fact, I'll probably bank almost everything I have over a particular threshold.

I know a lot of you are complaining about the difficulty, and the grind, and so forth, but many of you really are failing to see past the beta. Heck, many of you are failing to see past this particular beta build... I said it elsewhere and I'll say it here, you guys need to be careful what you wish for here in the beta because once everything is in the game and it's final, we can either be looking at a game that was well tuned or one that was thrown way out of whack because the most vocal of the bunch were too shortsighted to see that the game might already be balanced, but not for now, for the future when all the planned features are in place, and yelling for too much change at this early stage could cause an imbalance when the game is actually finished.

And okay, sure, they can always go back and change it again, but it seems an unnecessary extra 2 steps when they could leave it as it is and see how it pans out. I think a lot of you are going to change your minds when you can finally sell items, and you'll see you have a lot more pixels than you anticipated.

But if someone robbed you, it would be all of it.
The same goes for starbound, it may not be all at once, but if you always keep it with you you will eventualy lose it all.

Banking fees are a good deal higher in a world where death is around every corner.

Have you seen some bank fees? OMG Some are freaking terrible in my area. 40% Seems about right.

You're trying to equate a video game to real life... It's a fruitless effort on your part. I'd say figure out a better argument that pertains to why it would be bad for the game, not why it's not like real life. Following your logic we should all be pretty mad right now about how the world is composed of little squares and that we can play as sentient plants.

Not really a correct comparison at all. It would be more like automatically keeping most (60%) of your money safe in a place where you're likely to be robbed for 30% of it each half hour.
