No. Humans look bad. Those tiny eyes...

I'm going to make an avian just to be contrary. And also because I'm a hipster.

I think the avians look excellent. I like their lore especially. A fusion of old-timey ideals mixed with modern technology makes for scary zealots.

I'm not sure, but perhaps that thread to which you linked was created before the character creator came out? Because it's true that the popularity of Avians dropped. Also, people all said they wanted to be Avians before other races were announced. When screenshots of Tiy with a Floran character were published, the majority switched to wanting to be Florans. Of course, people might still switch to Hylotl or Robots when the lore of each is announced.

Also, Avian beeks are all kind of tiny. But that's for a reason. They can't make, for example, a parrot beak, because if an Avian puts on a helm, it might raise a lot of problems. They might find a solution for that though.

And it's true that the Apex are the least liked race. But I don't think that will be a problem. Even if they are a bit rarer, it will only raise the prestige of the remaining apex players. The first unit I made in the character creator was a Yeti - an apex with white fur and light blue skin. I was surprised that he looked much better than I thought. The avians were not as impressive as I believed at first, but they look quite good as well.

Hmm. That means there might be psycho hostile Avians.

While i won't play the Avians right off the bat i think, from what i've seen, the Avians have a real cool design when it comes to their buildings and armor. it's not everyday that you see a stone wall with screens and such! plus their political system, if done right, can make fighting them really cool i mean, imagine attacking a guard and having it call reinforcement then after fighting your way through an army of avians then having to face the leader. heck it doesn't even have to be a mini-boss but just an avian with a power boost, health boost and a cool weapon that you can loot. personally i'm going with the robots! the moment i saw their theme in the character creator i couldn't help but seeing a few quests where you can fight giant robot dragons and save the super stylish and hot robot princess.

edit: the avians seem to have the most dungeon like theme in the game so far, just felt like i would be spending my time exploring those. i wanna feel like an explorer!

I actually really like the Avians, yeah, their feathers aren't the most diverse but they did add a few more in and it makes it look a lot better. My own qualm with them is that you can't change their belly color, it's always white. >.< But other then that I really like their looks. It's not just their looks either, it's their lore and everything too. Really interesting, and I like the Pseudo-Egyptian looking architecture.

So far my first choice is the Hylotls, and then I'd probably make an Avian or Robot, though I really really dislike the robots clothing, since a robot and medieval styled clothing just seems SO weird. But I'll probably play as one anyways later.

Also, as for the people saying that the other species look too human. It's cause they used the base sprite, which means they can use the same armor on every single character, rather then having to make 60+ armors, 6 different times for it to fit on each character. THEN, the procedurally generated ones, they'd have to make 6 versions of each part. It's way to much hassle just to make one species look a bit different then the next. They already look FAR different from each other, rather then a good deal of games. Human, Human with pointy ears, human with green skin, human with extra eyes, at least there's some large noticeable differences between each species.

I'm not sure why you typed Avian's and Hyltol's as plural. You wouldn't type Human's would you?

The other races "looking human" makes sense. Humanoids shouldn't be too diverse in their shape even if they're different races. I don't remember them all looking the exact same, though.

Erm, yeah, minor mistakes. Don't see why you even brought it up.

  13. I don't really think Avians look bad at all.
Though I think the other races are a bit more popular, like the Humans and Florans.

Replying to your post. I bring it up whenever I reply.

  15. They're 5th in my list.

But it works for many others, so they'll be fine.
They are one step more diverse than the humans. They can't change their lips or eyes on the Character Creator.

The way I see this, the Avians do not need any changes. The people who will play the Avians will enjoy playing them, while the people who dislike their aesthetics will choose one of the other races.

That's actually incorrect grammar. You only use apostrophes for ownership, and the Avians and Hylotls didn't own anything there. If you're going to grammar police, do it right, lest I, the captain of the Spelling Schutzstaffel, correct you.

Uhh... You're correcting me, but you didn't actually read what I typed? I italicized what the quoted poster said as emphasis toward his misuse of apostrophes. Go back and read what I quoted, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Instead of trying to correct someone, use your head and actually pay attention. :) If you're going to try to troll a grammar dragon, at least have sense.

It's really logical that I would point out his mistake but then make the same exact one in my own post.

While we're at it, you said "You only use apostrophes for ownership..." This is an incorrect statement. You're forgetting that apostrophes can also be used in contractions.

    Examples:
We're going to a party. (We are going to a party.)
    It's raining. (It is raining.)
You're a terrible Spelling Schutzstaffel officer. (You are a terrible Spelling Schutzstaffel officer.)
