One thing to consider is how feelings of inter-species relations might shift in the presence of other fully sentient humanoid species. Pretty much every sci-fi setting that has multiple sentient species has inter-species mingling. I mean, if they're both consenting adults...

It's reasonably common for isolated communities to develop "friendliness" to outsiders, it's a survival trait that helps alleviate a restrictive gene pool and inbreeding. It wasn't too good for the Polynesians though when they encountered the syphilitic sailors of the British Admiralty.
