---------- ^that. Whole head white, with alternating white and <feather color (brown in this example)> at the bottom.
Another thought on the "fluff" is to make its color customizeable as well. Plenty of RL birds that have a mostly consistent body color, with a color-other-than-white highlight on their head / eyes / "cheeks". Hyacinth Macaw for example - yellow highlight around the eyes: Or cockatiels, which have yellow/orange "cheeks":
I'm a big fan of Avians and I think this is a good idea. I especially like the customizable fluff color idea. But I do have one thought. Maybe the Avians are supposed to only have white fluff as a race thing. :/
I think that a more intuitive customisation system will be introduced later in the development, and that might allow for complete color control. I think it makes sense because it would stink to get that deep to character customisation only to have to do it again when the next update comes out in a few days.
The character creator does seem extremely limited. I figured that was just because of simplistic nature of the game's visuals, but I hope you're right!
I put some thought into it, and this would require more programming changes because if you wanted to change the plumage to something other than bald, it would need to go over onto the plumage, which no current fluff options do.
Well, the crests are just different head images on the customizer, right? Well his suggestions could just be an additional slide with no crest. And then the fluff can be a different slider option.
Eh, keep it simple. Depending on how fancy the devs are planning on making the character creator, I suppose making the eagle style "Fluff" auto-switch the plumage to the 'none' option is a possibility, but it'd probably be easier to just leave the eagle fluff as an overlay, and if the plumage selection sticks out, then the plumage sticks out. /shrug Head plumage that's a different color than the rest of the head isn't unheard of in RL birds (see below), which Avians are modeled after, so I don't think Avians rocking a similar look would be an issue.
Another way to do this is via the base feather color - that could open up a lot of possibilities, even if they're less customizeable. In other words, the white head / brown neck-and-down would be selected via feather color; and there could be more options like a blue and yellow, or grey and orange, all to mimic the eagle/hyacinth macaw/cockatiel, and whatever other combo to mimic whatever other bird.
