Or maybe a Floran will be grown form a cutting, that's how plants are cloned IRL anyway.
Perhaps the apex will be cloned with stem cells.

Man, and I was planning on playing as an Avian as my main. Darn it!

I know to some (girls) this looks cute and all, but I didn't like the Human cloning much. This is WAY worse.

I mean, guys don't like to respawn as baby chickens and magicly turn back to normal! The egg thing was a good idea, but you lost me after that.

The more this cloning/respawn stuff goes on, the less hype I have about starbound. Please tell me this was a joke!

I have a solution for you. Don't die, ever.

 

The new goal for the Starbound crew for the next few weeks should be to make people like you as upset as possible. A good start would be making the baby chick pink and finding the cutest peeping sounds possible to accompany it.

 

Wow, what a stupid animation. That doesn't even make sense. Avians are humanoid birds, not birds. God why can't the devs make a simple yet sensible respawning method.

So far cloning (and some monsters looking plane stupid and immature) is the only problem I have with the game, and my problem with it just increased exponentially.

 

Are people really that bent out of shape about the cloning or is it some kind of elaborate ruse?

Seriously, get over it. It's a five second animation that you should barely ever see unless you're terrible at video games.

Please decide how you are feeling right now, and then select the appropriate response.

Seriously. I find it to be a charming, somewhat realistic spin on respawning, and some people are getting SO butthurt over it.
I don't get why you hate this so much. I just don't.

Yeah. You stated your point. I understand what the words mean. I just don't get why you think that.

Games arn't all doom and gloom, LIFE isn't all doom and gloom.
This game appears to have a mixture of everything, just like a real world has.

If you want über-seriousness, go play something like Dead Space, or go and watch emo anime guys with long, unkempt hair.

If you want to leave because you can't handle a RESPAWN ANIMATION, then do so. Nobody likes a person who can't handle tiny, trivial things.

Kay, I understand that you do not like the respawing system, and it's alright to have opinions.
However, you seem to be a minority, and most people really seem to think the opposite. It's an asthetic choice, which means that it doesn't bring the game down at all from a gameplay standpoint. Making you happy would make other people upset. Therefore, I think it's up to the devs to decide what to do. Perhaps you could mod the game, or ask for a setting in the options menu that changes the respawn animation.

 

A tip for the haters: place a piece of duct-tape in the middle of the screen to avoid seeing the animations.

You could probably animate the .gif yourself, that is, if texture pack support is allowed.

IndentedThe animation is cute. I like it. Though I also really like the idea of all races coming back to life via the human re-spawn variant.
IndentedSpeaking of which: I don't understand why there was any problem with the human variant. The debate about cloning and "character uniqueness" was silly, to say the least. It's a game mechanic (re-spawn) dressed up is all. Nothing cerebral (or disquieting) about it. Just imagine your character resurrects instantaneously, if it's a problem! (Because I don't think it's going to go away, and rightfully so.)
