You just gave me one. Horrifyingly awesome idea for my book. A Lunarian robot gains mastery over the functions powering itself after gaining sentience. (They are in fact built using technological components but use magic from a perpetual motion core to work)

I hope your happy for all the craters youve just caused millions from this homicidal, bulbranium reinforced caster. This reminds me of Astro Boy or something for some reason...

 

Eeeehhhh.... But robots can't use magic because they don't have a SOUL...
Sorry, that just reminds me of a VERY stupid discussion I had recently, about whether or not fictional robots could be psychic.

 

The Apex might simply have a chamber with an obscured human in it who then gets turned into an ape... ex.
The Apex are humans, just physically devolved and mentally evolved.

Eggsactly! My eggcitement has eggstended eggsceptionally well for an eggstraordinary eggsperiment.

 

Well, its not my fault some of the programming subroutines (especially on the more advanced combat types being developed) can sort of tap into peoples brainwaves and read the info. Arcanic (in my mthos a magical, reality changing language) tends to stimulate the mind the more its used as well as increase the lifespan, and the Lunarians have had about 10,000 years to practice manufacturing automatons with the Golemic and Arcanic languages installed. (Not one generation though, as I said before, the effects are progressive.) The same can be said for robots/automatons/golems fueled and programmed by this magic. Although of course, they do not have souls. Though some on the moon may argue against that too.

It would only be a step forward to give them magic wielding capabilities.

 

It's most likely a stem-cell egg. An egg that has its DNA stored in a machine, which is altered to possess an accelerated growth pattern. The egg hatches almost instantaneously, and then the baby grows to a full-grown avian.

I think the way Humans are cloned in Starbound, it's more of a reconstruction. Modern cloning involves eggs and.. all that stuff, go look it up. >:l

The way the bird is animated heavily reminds me of the Dead Space Birds.

 

Heh, I had exactly this in mind, but with a little bit more science.

 

perhaps the accelerated growth is achieved using an extreme amount of growth hormones. similar to Jack (the protagonist) in Bioshock. his body reached the "age" of around 19 in a few years because of that. and since the body stops producing growth hormones around that "physical age" his aging slowed down to normal levels at that stage.
except that in the chicks case, it ages in a matter of seconds. I also have no explanation for the glow when it grows up :/

Now all that remains is the Hytoli animation.
Because really what other way whould robots respawn appart from being reconstructed.
(Also Apex but damnit someone alredy came up with a clever idea for that.)
Edit: Also florans but they will probaly just grow from the ground or something.
