hey guys im back with time to start working on modding again
i decided to create a new design for the avali laser miner tool since all i did was recolor the original design

Do you know how Github works by chance? We are hosting the mod on Github, and all you need to do is make a pull request with your add-on. If you don't know, I'll go ahead and update it.

i dunno if i should post this kind of stuff on github too
before i start working on the drones, i want to ask you guys what are your expectations from them?
i was thinking on tiering them
there is an initial tier 1 drone which produces light (directional, just a cone in front of you?, a "bubble" of light around you?)
then that drone would be improved (more light? reduces your weight (higher jumping)?) and maybe after an upgrade or two there would be three different top tiers
one produces a shield around you (not visually) which increases your armor
one increases your energy reserves
and the third one is a combat drone that increases your damage output (dunno if this is possible tho)
any suggestions?
what each drone does will condition the design, that's why i'm asking for advice on what each drone does

I've been using the Avali race mod since it was first introduced. To me, Avali is Starbound is synonymous with Avali and I really couldn't imagine as playing any other race. I have a lot of respect for the modders continuing with this Triage in lieu of official updates. I was away for the game for quite some time but I have to say I love all the additions that have been made to the mod.

I have two questions. The first question is what happened to the cosmetic foreground architecture pieces is the Avali ship? They gave the illusion that their was less space, sure, but it made the interior look less blocky which was nice. It's not critical that they're a part of the mod, but I am curious why they dissapeared.

My second question is about Avali crops. I don't honestly remember how I got access to the seeds for Avali crops when Ryujin was still updating, but I've had no luck finding Avali crops in my recent playthrough. I only really use Frackin Universe and Avali race mod so I don't think that's causing a conflict. I was able to find Piru fronds from an Avali vendor, but no seeds. I'm a farming addict and loved the idea of my little fuzzy raptor farming her ammonia-rich crops underneath her ice base. I've tried doing research on where the seeds or wild crops could be found, but I've had no luck. Any information on Avali crops would be greatly appreciated.

Since I've started with mod for Starbound, the game changed alot for me, new things and stuffs, but I the best mod and race so far is the Avali.

Since I've got back to Starbound, I noticed that it wasn't updated, luckily I've discovered your mod and so far this mod did correspond a few expectations related to the original one, even that unfortunately it wasn't updated... But, if stars still shine, the hope won't fade too!

I hope your job as well the others related to Avali get included in the original's next update, and until there, keep with your work and make people love you more!

 

While I don't regret my decision to open the mod up for community updates (I could never have done anything myself aside from simply keeping the mod workable in whatever current version there was, so opening it up to let people submit their own additions was the only way there was going to be actual content added), I doubt that the additions made by the community were in RyuujinZERO's plans for the mod.

While I can hope for the best, Ryujinn returning and picking up the team's work and just running with it, it's likely that Ryuujin will instead decide to return the mod to his own view of where it should be. However, unless he forbids it, I would be more than happy to convert this Triage into a simple addon pack for the official mod, to continue to allow people to contribute to what would then be labeled the Avali Community Addons Pack. Optimally, but unlikely, would be Ryuujin taking my place in the team. (Currently my place is occasional bugfixing and posting out updates, but Ryuujin would be able to make his own additions, as he's quite a bit more creative than I.)(Yeah, I'm more a figurehead and PR kinda guy. I've given a few ideas here and there, and the team comes to me for the occasional bit of advice, but all in all my content contribution is minimal.)

 

1.) Well, when triage was still being worked on to be able to fully release, the ship was replaced with the Avian's ship design (which I replaced fast, with a human styled layout, being that it was the thinnest and wasn't a large train). I couldn't seem to find where the little file was located for the cosmetic part of the ship. Starbound's new ship tier system also comes into play for that cosmetic piece. That's a lot of pixel design to create something like that through all ship tiers.

2.) You have to obtain the seeds and crops through Avali merchants, which are spawned with tenants, that's all I know about it. There used to be a way to obtain them through the Terramart, but the Terramart updated, and a patch file wasn't released. The only current way to obtain them is through luck with Avali merchants, sorry about that.

I agree Devani was pretty funny. also like the previous comments, I've been here from the start, and once started using this race mod, that was it, no other race compared to the avail.
and lastly I would like to thank everyone for reviving and adding to the ever-going avail mod. let it live on for years to come.(I hope)

You're talking about drones that go into the "cape" slot of the player right? It sounds interesting, although, drones with the abilities to produce shields and increase damage, should be made with exceptionally expensive materials to make it seem more realistic. The amount of protection and extra damage would also have to be balanced. Directional lights are interesting, although a bubble light/glow would be neat as well. I don't think a higher jump boost would be necessary, due to the fact we can use tech for that.
I hope this input helped at all, I'm sure we will all like to see your progress soon.
Lets also not forget about the Dev thread to eh? I don't want to see it fade out of existence anytime soon.

 

so excited for the upcoming updates i would like to thank you all for making this mod and can you put up a thing so i could maybe donate to you because i think you deserve a bit of money and i hope your drone idea goes well cause i would really like to roam the universe with a drone to keep me alive

 

Did my suggested fix to the sprites for shields to make them line up properly not get pushed or something?[DOUBLEPOST=1444581001][/DOUBLEPOST]Also had an idea for drawing the actual shield sprite for the higher grade avali barriers with a status effect so it always shows in front.
