Avali Augments and Assortments.

I finally found what I was looking for, I kept remembering there was so much more to this race. I looked over the permissions, but I'm not sure if updating falls under altering of mod assets.

Mod Assets Permissions: You must get the author's consent before altering/redistributing any assets included in this mod."

Would be very nice to see all the items in there added to the Avali, or just updated to be usable for current build of Starbound.

 

It has been updated. Not officially, maybe, but with permission. The download link is in the addons section of the Triage overview page.

I'm not sure how much "scripting" would be needed - I don't really think you can do anything other than use the existing pet system, for which the best you could do would be to maybe make a "bird" style pet with a custom sprite, animation, and projectiles.
I guess that requires some .json file editing, but you could just rip most of it from the vanilla assets and reverse engineer and edit them (that's what I did for me bows iirc). Beyond that, I don't believe that you can write custom AI's for pets in mods. I may be wrong of course - I have done little modding since the "Giraffe" update, so I suppose we could do more now...

 

Originally I was trying to dig through the vanilla assets for things like the flying creatures and turrets, but I eventually just got all confused and turned around from staring at so much lua.

On a side note, I have a first draft of a sprite for the drone project, using the image for a gun drone from the wiki. Still need to resize it and sharpen it/clean up edges and the like.

OK, I must be missing something somehow. I cannot figure out how to make the steel blocks needed for most of the avali items. I found the iron ones on the starting anvil, but have not seen any steel blocks in any of the crafting things since.

 

You need the pixel printer, which makes no sense, I'm going to patch in a balanced recipe that uses ingots so you don't have to wait for endgame to use that stuff.

 

that explains it, have not made one yet due to running around searching for stuff so I can upgrade the ship, will build one asap.

 

Still pricey, recommend mining up a uscm bunker or something for them.

 

Pixels hasn't been an issue, with frackin flora, I tend to have a surplus of plants to sell to get pixels. And I don't remember seeing steel blocks when dismantling that USCM bunker. Smooth metal and titanium panels tho.

 

Apex laboratories are almost entirely made of steel blocks. It's tedious to harvest, but its a good way to get rid of an overstock of pickaxes and drills if nothing else.

 

Have yet to run across any apex labs this run through, although I haven't been running the gamut of normal stuff. Been trying to find materials to get FU stuff rolling.

 

If all else fails, I suggest OrePlants just so people can get a decent resource pile for building colonies if they don't like mining for ages. I suppose Peglaci may be an option too, but I am unsure if they're 100% Pleased Giraffe compatible yet.

 

Definitely not adding ore plants to the server this time.
