    then that means getting rid of all the melee weapons except the spear and shortsword, because Ryuujin didn't really want those in and included them because the game is melee centric.
    the bow is in for a gameplay purpose. there was no Avali-themed bow, so someone added it in so your weapons can have a sensible consistency. If you don't like the bow, don't make it. It's literally the only other Avali-based mod that was added into Triage, all others were kept separate.

    Hey, nice that the Avali are still being updated even in Ryujin's absence, and I've got a character running well in version 1.6.10 alongside some unrelated mods.

    When I try to update to 1.7.2, I can't select my character in the main menu. Also, when I try to make a new Avali character (for testing), I crash and get "Fatal Exception caught: (StarException) Unknown species kind 'avali'." Since I know next to nothing about modding, I'm not going to try and assume what the issue is, since I'll probably be wrong.

    The other mods I have installed (in case it matters) are:
    -Arm Cannons 1.0.1
    -AVIAN Floran (and BASE)
    -MadEXP's Choose Pet (I think that's the name)
    -Sergals
    -xbawks 3.7
    -Extended Songbook 1.0.7
    -Perennial Crops

    Can you do me a favor and move your player files in ...\Starbound\giraffe_storage\player\ to a different folder? Then try to make a new character

    To everyone complaining about my bows not being "lore friendly":

    I am well aware the the Avali would never have made bows from a lore standpoint, having little use for them on a low gravity world populated by mostly very large animals. I had a long conversation with RyuujinZERO during which I discussed this with him, proposing many different scenarios as to explain the existence of Avali bows, none of which stood up to close scrutiny.

    I eventually had to just go with the "stolen tech" angle because there IS no other way to excuse their existence. If you don't like the bows, nobody is forcing you to use. It's not like the villagers are now all sporting high tech bows to kill you "immersion" - you can easily ignore it.

    Or, if it bothers you *THAT* much, learn how to mod and remove the recipes yourself - it's very easy to be quite frank...

    And I do know how to mod, that's why I came here.[DOUBLEPOST=1442183668][/DOUBLEPOST]On another note, since all vanilla melee weapons were made cheaper, we should follow suit with this mod, as it puts players at a disadvantage now.[DOUBLEPOST=1442185433][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, working on realigning some melee weapons and shields, the fewer floating weapons the better.

    Suggestion, aerogel platforms made in groups of 10, requiring one steel block, as metal is only used on the end pieces and the main part is all aerogel, sound good?

    Avali building materials are supposed to be cheap and easy to use right? The platforms are the most expensive block yet one of the lightest.

    There seems to be an inordinate amount of debate going on about simple bows. So here's my two cents.

    Couldn’t we just assume that, as the Avali expanded into space and experienced different species, cultures, and technologies, they naturally absorbed different ideas, tools, and developments, and made them their own? My Avali character has no trouble using a human flamethrower:

    Is it so inconceivable that at some point an Avali pack somewhere saw bows in action, thought “huh, that’s interesting” and decided to apply some Avali tech to the idea? Just because it isn’t a natural Avali development doesn’t mean they can’t work with it. That's how technology works after all, experiencing and working with new and different ideas from different sources.
