RELEASED Avali (Triage) 1.11.0

Return of the most adorable predators this side of the universe rift

Ah, I remember those days before the Giraffe builds. Good times, good times...
But yeah, like Ulithium said, there aren't any dependencies. There's just "addons," as he put it, that other people made.

Well not really "as I put it" - I just used the word that this mod uses for em in it's description page! :]

Also speaking of "Pre-Giraffe", I really want old versions of this game back - really pissed off that they REMOVED a major function people used for "vehicle" mods last "patch", breaking... all of them. :L

I really miss this one the most:

As I really want this back... /cry

In my opinion, the last path did NOT add anywhere NEAR enough new content to justify all the modded content it ANNIHILATED... T_T
There more than 2x as many "outdated" mods as ones that actually still work ffs!

An avali riding a night fury. I never knew I needed to see this. Thank you.

Here's a really stupid question: where are all the Avali recipes? Back on early giraffe versions there was a set of avali stations to make things like aerogel tubes and graphene and the like, but I cant find them on iron workbench, anvil, metalwork station, any of these crafting stations, and I'd like to make avali parts...

    3D printer, you silly pony.

Thanks, I never use that thing like ever, because it usually contains all things you can craft without spending pixels.

Unless you are playing AS an Avali, I believe the 3D printer is (and has always been) the only way to get the Avali crafting stations for non-Avali races.

The issue is with how Starbound handles recipes - you'd need to make a patch for every single race to add the avali crafting stations to the list of things they can craft... =.=

But I am playing as an avali. There were no recipes available to make those crafting stations...I went to every crafting station I had at that point and none had those recipes, only the Vanilla crafting stations. I checked the Iron Workbench, Iron Anvil, Metalwork Station, even the Stone Furnace and Iron furnace to be totally sure!

That is why you check the ship's 3D Printer.

*nods* was just responding to the comment that only non-Avali needed to use the 3D printer for those crafting stations, when I was playing as Avali.

It's been around 8 months since I played so at the time I didn't think to check the 3D printer, since it's relegated to an unimportant button on the AI interface now. Thanks for keeping Avali going, I'll always miss my Avali tent fortress from the early Giraffe days, someday I'll have to top it.

I want the old ship back...

I'd also like it if not every 3rd party addon was added in, some stuff should maybe remain as addons?

First of all, you can put the old ship back - we had a discussion about this just a page or so back, and also what "addon" content is in the mod that you can't just "ignore"...? :/

Apologies, I was preturbed about the way things looked.

I just think a standard for quality should be set.

I also think that the aerogel on the new ship is rediculious looking and out of place, I could understand them being used as thermal storage cells but they don't need to look like blades.

Maybe I'm being nitpicky, maybe if I want something done right by me it has to be made by me...

    I'm gonna go modding now!

That very aspect was discussed when the ship was first introduced. It was eventually semi-decided that while the classic ship is (canonically) a function-over-form military design (though it also sees civilian use), the new one is a civilian design with a slant toward form-over-function--coolness for coolness' sake. Hence the silly blades.

  16. Marxon

    Marxon Supernova

But the whole idea of avali is to avoid cool for coolness sake!

I thought the whole idea of avali is to be too adorable for words, but maybe that's just me... n.nU

Well, if you're building a ship for commercial consumption and possibly export, you want it to look cool. Makes it a more attractive product for the mass market.

But going meta, Avali are full of cool for coolness sake. Just look at one:

That doesn't look like an alien. It looks like something from Earth. Avali are designed to appeal to our sense of aesthetics. They're not really alien creatures, they're cute, colorful, smart, high-tech dinosaur/bird people (and yes, I know the distinction between birds and dinosaurs is pretty thin). They're cool. They have cool weapons. They wear cool clothes. They're cool. Why does that Avali have a sword? No modern soldier carries a sword into battle! He has it because it's cool. And not only is the sword cool because it's a sword, it's made of a light, high-tech material prone to and in fact designed to shatter, and after it does, it has a built in mini-factory to rebuild the blade. That's cool! I wouldn't want to carry one into combat, but it's certainly cool!

I can do adorable very well I've been told.

I'm just as much at home setting things on fire.

There's a good bit SCIENCE behind it too.

Like the fact that aerogel is incredibly heat resistant.

I could go on but I'm instead going to curl up with my pillows.

    Good night.
