    Umm seeing as oxygen is not on Avali doesn't mean there can't be fire. In order ignite something you don't need oxygen but something that is an oxidizer there are plenty of other substances you can use to start fires ;) but I'm sure you know this.

    No, it's just, basic chemistry.

    You cannot sustain a fire without an oxidation source (Or fluorination). Obviously you can create a "flamethrower" which works in any environment as long as you supply both a fuel and oxidation source, but it'll function as a crude, short ranged, directed energy weapon in the absence of an oxygen atmosphere unless you're using a sort've gel that is impregnated with oxygen that sticks with the fuel. At any rate, flamethrowers are spectacularly inefficient weapons on the best of days, their primary role in warfare is to flush out bunkers, or to intimidate foes into surrendering - actual flamethrower kills were historically very rare (In fact it's been said that more flamethrower operators were killed, than people killed by flamethrowers)

    I understand that, I never implied that I didn't, what I'm saying is that the only reason the Avali military would employ them is if for some reason operations on an alien world produced a need for them, which as you stated, is rather unlikely, I want one anyways though

    Random shot in the dark here. Not sure if it actually matters with Starbound, but do you have the avali files in /mods/avali/? Or /mods/avali_something/avali/?

    The only time I think flamethrowers would be justified in combat (outside of intimidation/bunker clearing) is if you were fighting hardsuits, powered armor, or aliens with an exoskeleton and none of your other weapons could penetrate. You've got no choice then but to cover them with burning gel and let it work its way into the joints and cook the target inside its armor.

    But if you're fighting an enemy with armor like that with weapons like that, you're dead anyway. It's just a matter of time.

    personally I favor the use of flamethrowers against geurillas, fighters that hide in jungles or caves, if you can't find them, burn the entire area, I also think it has it's uses in urban warfare (similar to it's uses against bunkers), but in both contexts most races would find their use to be more trouble than it's worth

    Looks like the thread I posted in mod help got buried in minutes... Maybe it was in the wrong place?

    No offense meant; like I said, it was a random shot in the dark.

    This is a really odd bug. You get this error with just the latest avali version as the only mod installed, right? It's like there's something in the Avali files that screws up the Mac version specifically. Maybe a string somewhere that the Mac version doesn't like?

    For some reason, something about this bug is starting to seem familiar in a really vague way. No idea where it's coming from...

    that also has an affect in confined spaces such as caves or tunnels underground which have limited air supply. Any incendiary weapon is a three edged sword, terror, a flushing weapon and also acts as a means to suffocate. Flames need oxygen and flames use up said oxygen or any other atmosphere type that can allow flames meaning it burns up said breathable atmosphere and leaves it a dead space for which you can't breathe.

    Naw, you didn't offend me. I was trying to lighten the situation but it backfired instead.

    Specifically, it only occurs with 11.0 and 11.1. Version 10.1 is fine. You may be onto something about the string though...

    well my thing with incendiary weapons is that my favorite race in my settings is an artificial one, they have nothing to fear from fire under any circumstances and are quite fond of terror tactics, so I look into a lot of possible applications for them

    Hey, Ryu, what are your thougts on the upcoming "Psi-staff" weapons Chucklfish has been teasing? Do you think that they will fit into Starbound at all/will you be making special Avali versions?
