Hello guys! If this has already been suggested, you have my permission to shoot me with a beam rifle...just be sure it's a really cool one with huge lasers and shiz. Ahem. 8D ANYWAYS - I was wondering if perhaps you might make the colored wingtips / tailtips / hairtips just be a combined option added to the Avali's initial creation screen rather than the three separate appearance / vanity items. People would also have the option of not using it at all by simply making the color of the tips be the same color as the Avali's 'fluff', or body. Now I understand the appearance / vanity items idea, don't get me wrong...it's just that now my character is nekkid and I can't put any cool armor on her because I'm using the colored tips items. :( Which I -could- just altogether not use, but cmon...the tricolors just look pretty fricken awesome amirite

actually. I'm not sure if this has actually been asked already. not sure about it tho. It comes down to preference.

not suggested, but I think there's only a set number of customizability features for any race, regardless if it's modded or not. Probably an engine limitation or something.
Then again, I am about as good as programing as a glass of milk, so...

Ok I'm just messing with you there. They're comparatively soft science I don't go into specifics, but it is implied that the guardian nanite "package" is a variety of different nanites with multiple roles, rather than a single god-mode, multipurpose nanite.

Thinking a bit on the subject, nanites don't need to directly reproduce themselves in the body if the user has an implant that can "breed" new nanites. Some of the nanite activity might be based on chemical functionality, so some kind've nanite "scout" might be able to identify invaders and then the implant can look up and prescribe a proper treatment strategy (which the implant sets about manufacturing), if the "breeder" is a 3d printer it could manufacture conventional drugs in addition to nanites which leads to some further possibilities (Such as creating and administering awareness or performance boosting stimulants in the field).

The avali also have gene manipulation so, purpose-built bacteria/phages might also play a function or be a part of that health package

I'd assume it would. The reason we can smell things is because particles suspended in a water-based mucus react with the sensory neurons in our nasal passage. Water doesn't have a scent because it doesn't change the composition of the mucus. For the same reason, It's likely that the avali would have some kind of ammonia-based mucus and therefore wouldn't be able to smell it for the same reason. Now, water on the other hand reacts with ammonia, which is the reason it smells so pungent (ammonium hydroxide to the face!) so it makes sense that the avali would sense a pungent odor for water.

Also, you should look into getting some combat armor. Your PuddingSciFi nanites shouldn't have to put up with that.

That's what I figured. but i'm stupid at times so eh

in fact it'd be almost the exact same chemical (ammonium hydroxide), so it'd smell exactly like ammonia does to a human (Assuming we de-code the signal sent to the brain as being same, obviously this is like asking "Do you see the colour blue the same way I see it", it's objectively impossible to prove :p)

    No, that's actually me.

I'm sitting on a hill two klicks away looking at you through an adjustible-zoom, augmented-reality, rangefinding and computing scope mounted on a custom-assembled Vaur Industrial precision marksman's railgun firing specification-printed, match-grade, hollowpoint, fin-stabilized tungsten flechettes with discarding sabots.

Ehks hired me to assassinate him. But why!?! The plot thickens. But now I have to change shooting positions.

I don't see how that quote is in any way relevant to your answer, but OK.

The plot thickens, indeed. I shall never reveal why I hired you. That is for me to know, and for me to take to the damn grave.
