Actually, I've never used aerogel as a window (The aeroglass "glass" blocks are actually rather cloudy and not nearly as transparent as real glass and intended less as a window, and more as a light source), that said, a glass-like pane of aerogel is still quite transparent, you can see her hand behind it even though you're looking though several centimetres of it. At any rate i keep telling people that aerogel isn't magic, it just has some properties that make it useful for travelling nomads looking to keep weight low.
