    I had to come out of hiding just to say I got a serious laugh out of this. I still dabble in SL now and then and have one of the oldest accounts in the game. It's still the only thing anything like it, and yes... it is still the most clunky, bizarre, unoptimized resource hog ever. But I can't not love it.

    Uh...it looks like you're missing items from the mod. Is Avali/a character creator the only mods you have installed? Did you let the download fully finish before unpacking? did it fully unpack?

    That right there may be your issue. Have you ever installed, then uninstalled a mod before? That may also have caused this.

    Yeah as people've basically said what you should probably do is backup your save file and remove all the mods except the avali and the race loader; if that works, then re-add mods til it stops working and you have your problem mod. Alternatively if the mod doesn't work even on it's own then something wasn't installed right. Delete the avali mod and reinstall it fresh.

    Please make the Avali mod compatible with the Fully Customizable ships mod, I really like being able to mess around wit my own ship.
    I'm as much a Nomad as these creatures, and being able to modify my own ship makes it all the better!

    Or if anyone know how to make it compatible, please let me know so i can mod it to be.

    So, winter trailer means Unstable is coming soon, and then the stable release! They were talking about a heat and cold system I think, so many other wonderful goodies, ship AIs, etc. Does this mean the Avali will be updated when the stable version is updated?

    Unfortunately, the new heating and cooling system is still "hot is hot, cold is cold." It depends on the planet. Volcanic and magma planets are too hot, tundra planets and asteroid belts are too cold. There's just no love for non-CHZ life, is there?

    Let's be fair, it's a step up from the original 'can only freeze to death' system in current stable. Besides, it may be possible for Ryuujin to switch the flags for the Avali so cold is acceptable and hot isn't.

    So, having played the daily for a while (currently only up to Titanium), I'm remarkably pleased that the game has moved forward mechanically despite my suspicions; though I still feel it lacks some important mechanics laterally speaking to make building structures purposeful. Nonetheless I'm a lot more optimistic than before.

    Outright converting the mod as it presently stands to the current Starbound version (Upbeat Giraffe) would not only be a mammoth task but would actually miss many of the intricacies of the new metagame and mechanics that have been introduced since the last stable version (Enraged Koala). Instead my plan is going to be to re-build the mod in modular stages from the ground up (this of course will be much quicker than making the mod in the first place since much of the art assets already exist), so that the modular steps can be properly integrated with the new mechanics and meta rules, integration with the new armour mechanics, stats balance in line with the new gear etc.

    Changes to the meta rules of design; for example how the novakids have guns, mean that I don't need to just make carbon copies to completely sustain parity anymore (So for example the Avali weapon motif will likely be a focus on combined arms strategy with unusual projectile mechanics; setting up ambushes with a mine launcher or softening up a large group of foes with airburst grenades to make them easy to finish with melee attacks), and this makes for more interesting design possibilities. While I'm reworking the mechancis I can also rework some of the art to fit the new style; sneakily chucklefish changed the art style of starbound slightly.

    Not sure how to approach the spaceship situation though. Making variations on ships will be a lot of work, and also tricky considering there isn't a good canon answer to this.

    What about grey-market purchases? Would it be lawful for a pack of ship enthusiasts to barter and haggle for the parts they need to construct a higher-class vessel, granted they had enough excess resources to do so?

    What I mean is that the ship modularity works for the other races because they're just a bunch've shippy-looking parts slapped together. Whereas the Avali *have* a ethos for ship and pre-existing designs. "It looks kinda shippy" doesn't really sit well at all :p

    EDIT: Oh right I remember now an idea that came to mind ages ago. (Having the player start off with a very large ship, that is heavily damaged). Whereas the other races start with a damaged small ship and expand it, the avali player'd start with a damaged large ship, and restore functionality and life support until the entire ship was full operational and had the same functioning internal space as the other race's largest ships. The progression of restoring life support and hull integrity to various decks would mirror the way players expand their default ship.

    Sounds like a great idea! The starter ship could simply have a massive sprite with the damaged sections all inaccessible as you only have access to a starter-ship sized section of it!

    Not 100% perfect, but definitely sounds like it fits better than the typical Starbound ship progression for the Avali
