RELEASED Avali Race Mod, The second thread!

    Same, I skimmed over Planet Explorers before, i had doubts it'd be able to pull off half the stuff it claimed it would - but it's actually making good on those claims. It actually has working colonies and tower defence, design and build your own vehicles and weapons, a decent storyline in campaign mode, a decent renderer, etc.

    You're right that no man's sky's E3 trailer was definitely an on-rails, carefully choreographed deal, I have reservations as it reminds me far too much of the Spore GDC video (Which was nothing like the finished game either), nonetheless a triple-A sci-fi exploration sandbox is something I'll be watching closely, it might represent a coming of age of the genre and can only mean good things. As for "at least a year", how long do you suppose it'll be before Starbound is ready? ;) - At current rate of development it'll be at least 2 before the original feature list is fully implemented,

    I brought Planet Explorer a while ago but never got into it (might try again now)
    Once its a bit more complete are you thinking of injecting the avali into it or maybe a different mod all together?

    I'd have to wait and see what modding options will exist for it. Their kickstarter says modding will be a thing but as of right now there is no official modding support

    You know what's funny? The whole reason I started playing Starbound was because I ran across the Avali in SecondLife, thought the idea behind them was interesting, and then bought StarBound. I'd buy Planet Explorers as well just to see the Avali there as well.

    Absolutely lobe your mod, the Avali are so cute, and the quality of the mod is extremely high. :D

    May I make a suggestion for the respawn though when you get around to it? According to the lore full body prosthetic exist, I think a rather unique re-spawn animation would be instead of growing a new body like most of the other races do have the brain in a jar teleport back and get put in a new one.

    well Ryuu one question, if the mod here pretty much comes dormant (not dead,) till Chucklefish pulls off the miracle and catches up on the featureset they orginally promised is there anyone you plan entrusing w/ the mod's source to maintain it in your absense from the starbound scene?

    As has been stated before, the problem is not figuring out what a cool animation would be, but actually animating it. The respawn animation is one of the most involved pieces of animation in the game, all for a screen that players try to see as little as possible.

    That and Ryuujin's not actively developing the mod right now. So it's doubly unlikely. But if you'd like to try your own hand at it, feel free.

    Though I must ask, you showed a pic of some new blocks a while back. Would it be possible to add at least those?
    And finally, what about some kind of armoured sleeve?

    Help, fresh install of Starbound using only this mod and xbawks, my starbound crashes on load before even getting to the menu. Removing this mod fixes it

    I'm not an expert by any means, but there appears to be a recipe for the "avalitiles" item, which outputs the "tiles" item. There is no item with that itemName, but there are files matching the recipe's file name. The fatal error indicates it has something to do with this, but my game runs without any problem even with the same thing happening. If you open up mods\avali\recipes\crafting\lathe\C Tiles\avalitiles.recipe with a text editor and change:
    "output" : { "item" : "tiles", "count" : 1 },
    to
    "output" : { "item" : "avalitiles", "count" : 1},

    this should get rid of that particular error, based on my experiences with modding starbound.
    Whether it will fix the crashing problem or not is uncertain since I can't replicate the error on my end.

    That's my best guess; hope it helps.

    Probably since I made the AvaliMerchants plugin.

    Doctor Zero, you make Signal Stations by spending 500 pixels at the Metalwork Station. No exceptions. Also, I don't understand what you mean my "take it away". Do you mean moving It? Because the Signal Station should be easy to remove and replace with a regular pickaxe or drill.
